He is on pace for 1,000 yards, which would put him for 1,000+ yards in 5 of his 7 NFL seasons and most certainly would have been 6 of 7 seasons if not for his ridiculous suspension. He has been so durable and consistent for 7 seasons and he is still only 27. He may not be Zeke of 2018, but he can still get the job done the way Emmitt used to do it.

Zeke is having a good season but 1,000 yards in 17 games isn't really much of an achievement.
Feature backs are a thing of the past. 1,000 is a staple of consistency, dependability, toughness and clock management. I still think of 1,000 as a benchmark, especially a guy who does it for his entire career. If 1,000 yards in 17 seasons isn't much of an achievement, Emmitt's record will soon be broken then.

Yeah I am sick and tired of people throwing around a 1000 yd season like it is a mile marker nowadays. That was an achievement back in the days of 12 game seasons. Now that is approximately 58 yds a game.
7 Running backs ran for 1,000 yards in 2021 which was the first 17-game season. In 1996, 13 guys did it. It's more of an achievement today statistically speaking with the way the game is played. Therefore your argument against 1,000 yard rushers is wrong.

Who cares? We're all watching the games. He's not playing at an elite level despite being the highest paid RB in the league right now.

58 yards per game in 17 game season. Hall of fame stats.

"Here are two arbitrary seasons!"

I can play this too - 16 RBs rushed for over 1,000 yards in 2019. One being Philip Lindsay who is like the third RB on a depth chart somewhere now. As did Carlos Hyde and Marlon Mack. Mediocre RBs can get to 1,000 yards in the league today.

1. no they aren't and 2. doesn't matter because he's being paid like one

60 yards per game. Woohoo.

Also on schedule for 4.2 yards per touch, running and receiving, the lowest of his career.

Now do the entire 1990s vs the entire 2010s.

I picked 1996 because it has the lowest amount.

True, although it’s much more of a passing league now.

Maybe you should have been clearer in your post?

The only reason it's "harder" to get 1,000 yards for an RB now is because most RBs in the league don't get enough chances. 1,000 yard RBs typically get 230+ carries. JAG RBs nearly every season get 1,000+ yards

In recent years: David Montgomery, James Robinson, Antonio Gibson, Chris Carson, Philip Lindsay, CJ Anderson, Jay Ajayi, etc. That's just in recent years. It's not an achievement.

I think we will part ways with Zeke. He isn't productive like before and makes too much money.

worth every penny.

.....and also because the team has been driven with a pass-happy scheme over the past years under Boy Wonder. The inconsistency granted both RBs attributes to Red Zone inefficiency and the eagerness to sling the ball with trickeration spewing will make any team get away from pound & ground. Did you see the short yardage calls yesterday?
