Zoners: Herm Edwards is known througout the NFL as a tough guy.....but, our coach does this (ref below) and we are soft/easy etc.
CHIEFS CAMP BUZZ: It’s a day off for many starters
Rest time for some veterans
A large number of Chiefs starters were given the day off Thursday, including Eddie Kennison, Donnie Edwards, Tony Gonzalez and the starting offensive line.
“I treat everyone fair,” coach Herm Edwards said. “I don’t treat everyone the same. Those guys have taken 200 — or close to that — reps already. They’re veteran football players. You don’t want to expose them to too much. They got a whole day off, which is good for them. (Now) they have to go back to work (today) and Saturday.”
No panic about rookie kicker
The Chiefs conducted an hour-long special teams workout Thursday evening. The practice, however, didn’t include any field-goal work for rookie kicker Justin Medlock.
Edwards said Medlock made eight of his first nine attempts at training camp, but he’s struggled of late, making just four of his last eight.
“We haven’t played a game yet,” Edwards said. “So I’m not going to panic about what’s going on out here. He’s missed a couple. Big deal. I’d like him to miss them all out here and not miss them in a game. I’ve seen players that are terrible practice players, but they play real good in the football games. We haven’t kicked one live yet. He’s got a lot of time to work on it before opening day.”
