Chris Long could help Ware put on the pressure ......for years to come.

He has great blood lines......what do you Zoners think?

When asked Monday how Tech plans on keeping UVa star defensive end
Chris Long at least somewhat in check, Tech coach Frank Beamer uttered
the word "wow" before the reporter could finish the question.

"I think anybody that goes against Chris Long is going to have
trouble," Beamer said. "Our offensive staff is back there right now
trying to figure out how to slow him down ... and they may be in there
a while."

Long's 12 sacks lead the ACC and rank him fifth in the country. He
must be salivating at the prospect of facing an offense that ranks
112th among the nation's 119 teams in sacks allowed (39).

Sometimes Beamer cracks me up with those one-liners. But seriously, I
don't think we'll be throwing many passes to Ore this weekend. I'm
pretty sure they'll keep him in the pocket to help with Long.

The Sporting News had a little profile of Long last week, it said that he was a solid end in a 4-3, a good run stopper, but not a great pass rusher.

We have one that is developing his name is Spencer

You are correct, but this guy Long plays a different position--DE.

Is he a 4-3 defensive end? ..... or are you just throwing his name out because his last name is Long?

Chris Canty played the 3-4 at UVA, therefore I was assuming since the coaching staff is the same that they still play the same 3-4 scheme

Chris Canty is 6'7" and weighs 300 lbs

Long is 6'4" and weighs 275

Do not think he would be a DE in this defense.

We need WR and DB's. Our front 7 on D is solid. I'd hate to see us pick another guy in the first 3 rounds of the draft that is dline or lb.

Vernon Ghoulston from OSU, made Mr. All Pro Jake Long look very average last Saturday. Jake Long was a consensus top 3 pick next year, and he really was out-matched. If we absolutely have to take BPA in the 1st, I'd rather have this guy coming off the edge. You can never have too many pass rushers.

You are aware that we are discussing a different LONG--right?

Gholston only beat Long once. Only sack Long has given up this year. His other 2 sacks came from the other side. I will say that Gholston is a beast, but he's a 4-3 end.
