Really good article about Parsons and a new deal.

Agent's Take: Cowboys should call Micah Parsons' bluff with new deal soon before star seeks full market value

Dallas can't wait to sign Parsons as the bar will surely be raised for non-quarterbacks, particularly edge rushers, this offseason

Dallas Cowboys edge rusher Micah Parsons isn't shy about expressing his opinions. Hall of Famer Lawrence Taylor, who redefined the outside linebacker position, gave Parsons some unsolicited advice a couple of days ago. The three-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year suggested that Parsons should focus more on football and less on podcasts.

Parsons, who is scheduled to make a fully guaranteed $24.007 million in 2025 on his fifth-year option, has had plenty to say about his contract. The 2021 NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year raised eyebrows last December by opening the door to taking a hometown discount. "I feel like you see a lot of times 'highest paid,' then we say they don't have weapons, or they don't have this," Parsons said. "So I would rather just be in the best situation, you know? At that point, I don't think there's a big difference between $30 million and $40 million in my eyes, you know? And that's just me talking."

The more time that passes without Parsons having a new contract in place as his peers get paid, the greater the chance that his frustrations with a lack of progress prompt him to seek his full market value. If this happens, it wouldn't be a surprise for Parsons to become the NFL's highest-paid non-quarterback, whatever that may be.

Just give him $35 million let him be happy, OR he should wait until after free agency has been going on for a few weeks, if the Cowboys haven't meant any substantial moves, then they're not honoring what Micah wants this team to do in adding talent. He should proceed to seek 40 million and reset the market!!

I think Parsons is just talking. Blowing some smoke. I think he really wants to be the highest paid D player in NFL history when he signs his contract. That is what he and his agent are really shooting for. If someone signs for more after he signs so be it. But he wants that honor for however long it lasts.

And....given Jerry and Stephen's recent contract history Parsons will likely get just what he wants.

Well, this is the one time Jerry could actually use the media to his advantage in negotiation. Put the contract in front of him and applaud his willingness to help the team.

There is too much at stake now with Parson's and Lamb's careers on the line and new staff on the job. Even Stephen isn't that dumb. Franchise values are going no where and there is pride on the line as well.

That is not the Jerral way. He will wait until the last minute, all the way talking about how good Parsons is and how much he wants to pay him.

LOL, idiot.
There's at least 5 examples and I'm not getting into it right now of they have signed guys quietly and quickly when the actual people involved you know agents and players actually cooperate..

not like lamb, lamb purposely dragged it out to make sure one of the top two players in Jefferson and chase signed their deals because he was waiting that is not on Jerry.. there are plenty of examples like Trayvon diggs that went perfectly because Diggs wasn't greedy, he wasn't pushing for anything but top five got 4th highest at the time, back in the day when players were just asking to be in the top five in salry at their position VS highest paid NON qb money. well that changed things...

there's a reason jamar chase didn't get paid yet because he wouldn't accept the money they offered him now he had one of his best years ever and he's hanging out there they also have T Higgins but you do realize this went on with Brandon Ayuk as well as others last year when the player and agent play hardball, they're not signing early, they've done all the homework, they know what money's coming down the road and you're not forcing him into a contract.. it doesn't seem to help them in the long run they're looking three years down the road on what the market might change and that's what they're asking for they're not stupid it's why you have representation players used to be OK with reasonable contracts but now they're kind of jealous on how large quarterback contracts have gotten they look around the leagues and look at what baseball and the NBA are playing and now they've decided they want more and that those players are not getting quick contracts done and it's not all on Jerry or any of the GM's around the league it is just how it is..

I mean you're the expert, I bet you think you could just walk up to a player after his third year in the league and they're playing great and just say take less money now and we're going to give you a six year contract, so we don't have to pay you as the market increases, and see how they laugh in your face..

some players will take fair deals and a lot of them won't and those that won't are on other teams also holding out or it's taking longer we've seen it take right up to the season or worse... This is not exclusive to Jerry like I said there's been other contracts that were quiet and easy and this just will have to be a wait and see..

That's what the article's about I don't even have to read it but they're saying they should call his bluff he said he'll take less money that way they can have a better offseason well we'll see if he takes less money if he takes a top five deal at his position then it'll probably get done pretty quickly if he's holding out for 35 to $40 million it's not going to be easy it probably going to force them to tag him or something because that would be unreasonable...

Micah can't and won't be dictating to the Jones clan how they run the Cowboys.

Micah and run his big mouth all he wants. Nothing he says will make any difference. Nothing!
Not sure of anyone on this planet that could ever influence or get Jerry to do something he doesn't want to do. Maybe his Mother, at one time. But, currently, there is no one!!

in the end micah is going to get what he wants, jerry can act tough all he wants, he always cracks under pressure, see zeke, lamb, dak

Jerry should put $30 mil in from of him right now.
I doubt he would take that but if he did that'd be great maybe you sweeten the pot by making it fully guaranteed 4 years $120 million ?hmmm it would be odd and maybe it would set new precedent maybe some players in all leagues when they're taking a discount willing to help the team maybe it should be wrote into the contract not specifics but that the team has to be more aggressive in building the team and use some of the excess money for free agents or trade and it has to absolutely at least appear that they're trying to improve the team... If not some escalator after the first two years given some weird parameters I don't know how you would do this legally but maybe it gets written in and put some pressure on ownership that if they're getting some hometown discounts with no threat of holdouts smoother contract for less money that they have to use some of that excess money to improve the team... Not necessarily go all in, but how about we just do more. lol

I wonder if this poster even knows how many don't read all this word salad? Yet, here he is like he was vaccinated with a phonograph needle.

Should pay him what they payed Robert Quinn.
About as useful in the run game

If I was Micah's agent.

I would ask for close to being the highest paid non-QB. I would make it an almost fully guaranteed contract. No trade clause included.

Why?

If I was his agent I would really concerned that the roles Micah plays may lead to a shorter career. He may not see another contract after this. This is Micah's nest egg right now they are negotiating.
