Agent's Take: Cowboys should call Parsons' bluff with new deal soon

I wouldn't take that if I were him, 35 is one million more than the other guys making 34
He’s gonna set the market. One million more is a steal. If he plays out the 5th year he will get much more and signing him now lowers his cap hit this year. One million more gets him top pay for a year but if you wait then it’s only gonna cost more

Really good article about Parsons and a new deal.

Agent's Take: Cowboys should call Micah Parsons' bluff with new deal soon before star seeks full market value

Dallas can't wait to sign Parsons as the bar will surely be raised for non-quarterbacks, particularly edge rushers, this offseason

Dallas Cowboys edge rusher Micah Parsons isn't shy about expressing his opinions. Hall of Famer Lawrence Taylor, who redefined the outside linebacker position, gave Parsons some unsolicited advice a couple of days ago. The three-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year suggested that Parsons should focus more on football and less on podcasts.

Parsons, who is scheduled to make a fully guaranteed $24.007 million in 2025 on his fifth-year option, has had plenty to say about his contract. The 2021 NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year raised eyebrows last December by opening the door to taking a hometown discount. "I feel like you see a lot of times 'highest paid,' then we say they don't have weapons, or they don't have this," Parsons said. "So I would rather just be in the best situation, you know? At that point, I don't think there's a big difference between $30 million and $40 million in my eyes, you know? And that's just me talking."

The more time that passes without Parsons having a new contract in place as his peers get paid, the greater the chance that his frustrations with a lack of progress prompt him to seek his full market value. If this happens, it wouldn't be a surprise for Parsons to become the NFL's highest-paid non-quarterback, whatever that may be.

Dallas is not "the best situation" of you want to win a championship. It's the sports franchise where players go to get paid.

Trade him. Let Osa walk. Blow it up. Why bring back the same dudes that can’t get it done? Oh and pay them a lot more. Stupid.

Dallas needs to be a year ahead in planning for player extension or moving that player while they have their highest value instead of being a year behind. Negotiate now, see what his trade value is then make a decision. Micah at 20/year is a slam dunk yes, but if his agent pushes to 30 plus with how these other contracts are structured that may get really tough to do. What is some teams offer 3 1st? You really saying no? I mean who would have thought cleveland would give up all those picks and guaranteed money for Watson? Whatever they do now is the time to start the process and not be in a hurry or a crunch time so you can make the best deal for the team. That's what a good GM would do anyway.

That is not the Jerral way. He will wait until the last minute, all the way talking about how good Parsons is and how much he wants to pay him.

LOL, idiot.
I'm not sure any team would be that concerned with finalizing a contract before March 12 when the player still has a year on his contract

I got a better idea, how about not letting this drag all offseason and sign him now
.....and waste potential months and days of this being discussed in the Sports media?

Parsons signing is literally the only splash topic to talk about because it sure won't be about any "over the hill" free agents we sign.

Just give him 40 sheesh crack in already Jerry
I’m a think ahead guy. If you aren’t gonna extend Micah you trade him now. You don’t let him plsy out and walk. If you are gonna extend him you do it now. Saves money and clears a few million in cap space. What frustrates me with Jerry is there never appears to be a plan. Just winging it

So true!!!!!

My fear is they do nothing and let him play on 5th year option
His agent won’t let him play on the 5th year option. He’s the guy that negotiated D. Watson’s deal with Cleveland. If his client’s efforts don’t warrant a contract with substantial guarantees Parson’s will never put on a Cowboys uniform again.

We already have the highest paid offensive player, so great things ought to happen there. Once we get the highest paid defensive player, we should be back to winning championships before long.

That’s how it works right?
Well in this case the defensive player very well could be the best in football. The offensive guy not so much….

As an owner, why would you not sign him right now, unless your intention is to trade him on draft day

whatever way it goes, tells us what JJ is thinking.

If he drags it out and keeps him, same story, dont expect anything for the money.

Trade him if you want to rebuilt.

Keep him if you want to win now.

I prefer the trade route. If Dallas tries win now, waste of time.

Not sure of anyone on this planet that could ever influence or get Jerry to do something he doesn't want to do. Maybe his Mother, at one time. But, currently, there is no one!!
Nonsense!
Stephen and Garrett pushed him into releasing Dez.
Not only was it obvious but well publicized!
