Bengals Burrow willing alter deal, lauds Eagles cap control, should Dak

Any extra cap money would be squandered by the Jones clowns. So it doesn’t matter.

Honestly the last thing we want is Dak restructuring and pushing his cap hit down the road making him even harder to unload.

Should have eaten his hit last year and not resigned him, but here we are

Buccs were a good team that suffered injuries. Now certainly the 49ers were a much better team and defense but let’s remember most picked the Cowboys to lose to the Buccs.
Sorry this is wrong. Dallas was favored by 2 or more points, so "most people" were not picking the Bucs. Bucs were a home dog who had a losing record. Every few years there is a team that has no business making the playoffs, but some one has to take the spot. Bucs were that team.

I’m not referencing betting odds. I’m saying “experts” or media were picking the Buccs. Most of it was because Dallas was chokers and Buccs had Brady. Let’s not do revisionist history. Which btw, a 12 win team facing a 7 win team and only being favored by 2 points is hardly much confidence in the Cowboys lol.

Not one person picked the Cowboys and the same was done on other outlets.

I’m not saying this makes it anymore than what it was. We beat an average team that suffered injuries all season and essentially was the last year of Brady. So if you want to say they beat a bad team that’s fine but it’s important to also add most experts didn’t expect us to win and check this sites poll plenty had us losing.

Jeezum crow dude. You might want to take another look at the article you just used as proof of your assertion that most "experts" favored the Bucs in a playoff game a few years ago. Particularly, check the date of the article, the season that it references and the whether it was even a playoff game. Not to mention who the QB's were for each team.

My Goodness! lol

Lol that's pretty great.

He is not talking about taking less. He is talking about taking the same amount but converting salary to signing bonus to lower the cap. Dak has done that multiple times and likely will over the course of this contract.

Edit: He even points out IN that article "The Eagles are paying everybody. That seems to be the way."
This would be correct. But there is a big difference as to why the Cowboys do it as opposed to the Eagles. The Eagles do it to add talent and improve the team. The Cowboys do it to simply make room to cover their standard operating procedure. For example, the Cowboys are not going to free up 40m in Dak's contract when rookies and bum free agents don't cost 40M. They'll open up 10m instead.

Reading many of these threads......Jerry has a Fan Club.....can do no wrong in the eyes of all the Dak hate. Kudos to the oldest GM in the league. Kudos. How can you restructure AFTER you see the roster building or no attempts in calling potential interest? Dak and Cee Dee contracts were signed in the 25th hours.

Why is that so unbelievable? Dak is being paid more than a QB who has been to 7 straight AFCCG's and 5 super bowls. If anything is unbelievable it should be that Dak makes more than that guy.
Mahomes got a 10 year 450M contract. triple any contract was paid at the time. that's the longest largest contract ever in NFL. not too shabby for both sides
would you have been OK if Dak was paid 10 years 400M contract?

Are we seriously comparing Joe Burrow to Dak Prescott? The difference here is that Burrow doing this helps with the Bengals flexibility to retain talent. Dak doing this will allow for the same but we still have a hole at the QB spot.

Dak doesn’t play for money

Who cares?

The only thing Dak can do that will help the Cowboys is retire.
LOL

They should just try throwing him a retirement party, and see if he takes the hint. I doubt he would,... he'd probably read the room as poorly as he reads a defense in the playoffs....just stuff himself with shrimp and show up the next day at practice ready to suck.

I noticed "you could take less money" was the last thought out of his mouth. You could take less money, be few players do. Everything else he suggested the Cowboys have already done with Dak and several other players. That's how Dak's CAP number got to almost $90 million this year. It is a combination of the restructures of his last contract and the structure of his new contract. Of course Dallas could do it again and probably will. They will convert a good part of Dak's 2025 salary to bonus and prorate it over 5 years. If they convert $40 million of his $47,750,000 salary to bonus the can save $32 million against the CAP but it would add $8 million to the CAP over the next 5 years. It also means dumping him in the future would cost more in dead money. I don't think Dallas will make that much of a restructure but I am sure they will do something.

The problem in my mind is if Dak comes back and has another bad year, or has another injury where he misses significant time. Do the Cowboys want to be committed to him for another 3 years? His CAP number would be at least $70 million for each year for the remainder of his contract. My preference is to restructure CeeDee this year. Extend Micah and get some CAP saves from them. Take as much of Dak's CAP hit this year as they can. Get past the remnants of his last deal.
