Conor Riley on reunion with Beebe, Vaughn; blueprint for Cowboys' offensive line

When your plan is to start Chuma Edoga at LT... my comment about roster construction is valid.
Not only was that the plan to start Edoga for the 1st 6 games or so while Guyton got acclimated to the left side… that is how they finished the season when they determined they rushed Guyton in before he was ready!

Riley also said Beebe has versatility to play other spots and he (Riley) wants the best 5 starting. Keep in mind Riley played Beebe everywhere except Center at Kansas St.
2 time All American OG in College? I'm just saying there could be a shuffle about to happen, either way I have confidence in these coaches.

Except he didn't at all....Garrett was lined up on Steele the majority of the day. Altogether Garrett totaled just 13 snaps on the left side of the OL. Guyton was awful week 1 against Cleveland, and honestly was bailed out because Dak had a decent game getting the ball out at a rapid pace. NFL.com put him at just 2.59 seconds to throw in that game. PFF timed him at 2.34 seconds. I think the Cleveland game was one of the worst Guyton had this year.
We also moved the pocket away from Garrett in that game. The broadcasters noted that we had a good plan for limiting him.

I still like that Richards kid at LT.
I do, too, but if we're committed to Guyton at LT, I also liked what Richards showed at guard in the preseason. I thought he was one of our best guards then, showing good feet and power at the point of attack. Maybe we'll throw him into the RG competition.

I'd be good with letting him challenge Steele at RT, but that can be a tough transition for a player used to playing on the left side, kind of like trying to learn to write with the opposite hand.

Well he mentioned he wants to play "The best 5 lineman", I would put Richards over Guyton, as I think most would.

This will be a great test to see if the coaches or Jerry chooses who the best 5 are.

I would agree. Beebe is fine at Center if you already have two stud Guards. If not move the guy out to Guard.

I can honestly say this is the most excited I've been for our OL in a long time. I expect to see a noticeable difference very quickly next September. I know the quoted above is coach-speak. But it's still good to hear what he thinks about Guyton.

Can't wait to see the Cowboys new and improved running game!
that comes with an asterisk if we don't get a workhorse RB in here. My hope, and I know it is parroting many others but I don't care, is we get Ashton Jeanty. if not, it better be with good reason and with a guarantee of atleast Hampton or Johnson

* edit: I would call the draft a success if we could get WR T. McMillan and RB Hampton, I would take that but only if we get both

Good post , I am eager to see Dallas continue building this running game also.

Same here.

And this particular comment reinforces my belief that Beebe may move back to guard.

"I think one of the best things about Cooper Beebe is his versatility," Riley explained. "Yes, he was a two-time all American at guard for Kansas State, but he started games at tackle and at right guard or rather, excuse me, at right guard, right tackle, left guard and left tackle. So that versatility that he has really gives us a great opportunity to find the best fit for everybody up front."

I can see Beebe replacing Martin at right guard and Hoffman at center, with a draft pick competing with him there.

Well, that was the plan… then Edoga got hurt and went to IR!
Richards is also in play but kept getting hurt. It was obvious with all the injuries the Cowboys had across the whole team we weren't going to have a successful season...to much movement on the lines to get gelled, yes, some of it was scheme and play calling and hope this new staff gets that going.

yeah, it was an up and down affair, with some real rough spots, but i tend to always focus on "has he shown he can do it" and he did.
It still boils down to a man earning it. Not a fan biased 'golden way.' lol :starspin:

A competent OL coach and scheme can make bad players look much better..i like what they have been saying lets see if it translates to the field.
