Conor Riley on reunion with Beebe, Vaughn; blueprint for Cowboys' offensive line

I can honestly say this is the most excited I've been for our OL in a long time. I expect to see a noticeable difference very quickly next September. I know the quoted above is coach-speak. But it's still good to hear what he thinks about Guyton.

Can't wait to see the Cowboys new and improved running game!
I’m excited about Adams as OC with heavy influence on the OL.
Arizona had an excellent run game in 2024 with 2,451 yards (Cowboys 1,705), and they did it with an OL that isn’t regarded as one of the best.

LT - Paris Johnson - round 1 by Arizona
LG - Evan Brown - UDFA, Cardinals are his sixth team
C - Hjalte Froholdt - 4th round by NE, on his fourth team
RG - Will Hernandez - 2nd round by Giants, on second team
RT - Kelvin Beachum - 7th round by Pittsburg, on his fourth team

I certainly don’t think that OL is better than the Cowboys’ line. Between good coaching, a better proven scheme, and a commitment to run the ball, I think we will take a serious step in the right direction this year.

I agree, it seems Adams has a lot more to work with in Dallas. Plus, Brown (SMU), Hernandez (UTEP) and Beacham are UFA and should be easily affordable if they want to go that route.

Richards is also in play but kept getting hurt. It was obvious with all the injuries the Cowboys had across the whole team we weren't going to have a successful season...to much movement on the lines to get gelled, yes, some of it was scheme and play calling and hope this new staff gets that going.
Any time you start 2 rookies on the offensive line you can reasonably expect to have a down season. Combine that with practically refusing to run the ball and a back no one in the league has any respect for and the disaster that occurred was to be expected! You get ends crashing into their pass rush because they don’t have to play the run first and eventually you get an injured QB!

Better coaching and play calling will make a big difference.

I think the talent is there to have an excellent O line. Maybe not as good as it was in 2014-2016 but still way up there.
I think the middle of the O line will be fine; its the tackle play that will be what is the emphasis on.

Well he mentioned he wants to play "The best 5 lineman", I would put Richards over Guyton, as I think most would.

This will be a great test to see if the coaches or Jerry chooses who the best 5 are.
Guyton is more prototypical than Richards, so I'm not counting out him improving and surpassing Richards. Last year, we didn't really see enough of Richards during the season to judge (because McCarthy chose to play Edoga and then Richards got dinged when they finally put him out there), but I'd say he was definitely better than Guyton. Plenty of room for Guyton to improve, though.

If he does improve, I hope this staff is smart enough to look at Richards elsewhere. He has long arms and good size for the guard position and showed quite a bit of power there in the preseason. His tackle movement skills also give him an advantage over UDFAs Hoffman and Bass. I mean, I like both of those players but they overcome deficiences by being battlers.

The only thing we want for this year, none of that versatile multiplayer spots, know your job, impose your will. This more important than anything else.
