Dez with Garrett shade

Jerry owns that more than Garrett.

It's his show.
Yep, my days of blaming the coaches are (mostly) over. Now, I think Garrett is a limited offensive mind who kept a very good offense from possibly being elite, but the front office's team-building philosophies has left this team short against other playoff teams.

Jason Garrett is a good dude but he held this team back for a decade. Some of those teams were way too talented to get bounced early in the playoffs and a lot of it boiled down to coaching.
Which teams? The 2014 team that had George Selvie, Nick Hayden, Tyrone Crawford and Jeremy Mincey as the starting defensive line? Or maybe the 2016 team that had Tyrone Crawford, Terrell McClain, Maliek Collins and Jack Crawford?

Garrett held the offense back some with his offensive philosophy that lack creativity, but the front office didn't give those teams much of a defense.

To an extent that was on Garrett. He’s the one who had the biggest hand in switching back to a 43 and doing a complete defensive line rebuild when he had a rapidly aging and increasingly often injured QB!

I'm not going to blame Garrett for player acquisitions. That's the front office's job.

Those rosters certainly weren't without their flaws, but what they had was a top 5 offense and middle of the road defense. The pass rushing on those teams was definitely a weakness particularly in 2014 and you have to pin blame on the front office as well for not doing more to address the dline and holding onto Garrett for as long as they did. But no question Garrett was a mediocre coach that provided no edge on game day.

I won't argue against any of that. I think they had the components that year for an elite offense, the type that can carry a middle-of-the-road defense to some extent, but they did not have the offensive philosophy for it. They brought in Linehan but he had to operate under Garrett's offensive philosophy, which dated back to his days as a player when we could just line up offensively and beat the defense even when it knew what was coming. Garrett didn't believe in scheming players open. The front office forced offensive coordinators on him, even Moore with his more motion, but they still were limited by Garrett's philosophy of execution over creativity.

Don’t forget about our leader, Benson Mayowa
