Does it ever bother you when Jerry brings up his past success stories?

Jerry has been more successful the past 20 years than he was the prior 8 years. He's done everything but cut down the nets the past 20 years! Keep knocking on that door Jerry, one day you will kick it in!!! It took Philly 17 years to kick in that door. Keep knocking(y'all would call it winning meaningless games)

And I can't really remember JJ bringing up past success stories outside of mentioning something positive a former player brought to the team.
that mean's nothing to the 2025 cowboys

...except he was doing the exact same thing in his late fifties and early sixties. When does the aging process begin?
I would say late 60s it starts to really kick in big time. Ask anyone who you trust if they are as mentally sharp in their late 60s if they they were in their late 50s and they will tell you no.

So, hypothetically, Jerry Jones was an exception since the 'aging process' began in his late 50's? He was constantly reciting his successes in oil and gas and the three Super Bowl wins (e.g. the thread topic) at that stage in his life publicly--well-before his late 60's, throughout his 70's and presently.

Its seems in every press conference or whenever there's a microphone in his face, he's talking about current issues, but references his success back in the 80's and 90's as if that has anything to do with helping the current Cowboys. It's nice that he can reflect on the success he's had, but he's lost his touch, and he's clearly not using the same resources he used back then. Does this bother you to hear him talk about his past success, knowing that's not what we want to hear as fans. We as fans want to see action, not referencing how you won superbowls back then, or how you took risks when you first bought the team! Please give your thoughts
The problem isn't his referencing past successes, that's just an incompetent person trying to convince everyone they aren't incompetent. The problem is his using something that happened years ago as the main justification to impact his decisions and to do something the same way or a different way today even though the situations are never the same. How many times did he say this year he fired a HC once during the season and it didn't work out as a reason why he wouldn't fire McCarthy? I'm not say he should have or shouldn't have (well, I would have but that's not the point) but the Wade Phillips situation had nothing to do with the McCarthy situation.

Let’s not pretend like that’s not what we do as fans.
What do we have to brag about in the last 30 years?

All dogs age at different rates.

No because I stopped listening to Jerry a while ago and everyone else should just hit the mute button when he comes on...

Yes. Because it confirms his "expertise" thus, he's arrived and doesn't need to achieve anything more. He hangs his hat on his successes while he diminishes his failures as if they never happened. He never learns from his mistakes in football. He doubles down on them. Pride is a helluva thing.

:hammer:

We

We have 3 DT and 3 DE's that are free agents.

Joseph
Osa
Watkins

DLaw
Lawson
Gholston

We have way to many holes to fill, without participating in FA.
No doubt. Osa is gonna be more than Jerry will spend. But Lawson, gholston shouldn’t be. If we could add a stud DT in FA it would be huge. Of all the positions I’d speed the money on its dline. Hard to draft a DT. There’s not a bunch out there but a few more could be at some point.

Cincy gave Reader a huge contract and then added Henrickson at TE and Ogunjobi at UT and that led them to a super bowl. What'd they do then? Paid Burrows and let Ogunjobi walk, and then Reader. Haven't sniffed one since.

The Stud DT that is out in FA is OSA. He is ranked as the 12 highest FA. Milton from the Eagles is ranked 11th, who will likely command more than OSA after his two sacks in the SB.

It's actually amusing when Jerry brings up past success stories because all I think about is how Jimmy had knowledge of the college players and knew who was good.
