Is it me or is Bland below average without ints?

Bland is a complete CB. Most ppl don't factor in tackling and physicality in the position until the game is on the line. I always go for the CB who's a sure tackler out in space if very important. Bland covers the best WR so he's going to get beat from time to time, and casuals think that means he sucks.

That will be the question on both of them as corners. Since we will run cover 2, they will have to come up and play the outside run. Of course, I doubt Diggs will be out there early and if we cut him now, we'd have to do it with an injury settlement.

I'd give it this year to see how both do primarily as zone corners before making any decision. I don't think Diggs is as reluctant a tackler as some do because there are times when he comes up and lays a hit. He got the reputation in the San Fran playoff game when he went for making a hit on the ball against Kittle and Kittle dodged him. That doesn't mean he's a great tackler or that he doesn't try to avoid blocking or getting run over by a back at times. It definitely is not his strong suit.

I think this season and the scheme that Eberflus plays will tell us who we keep or don't keep at corner ... but it may take the season to sort it out because Diggs will probably start the year on PUP.
The SF game defines Diggs, it just does. Your argument "it was 1 play" is fair but man, what a play.

Let me put this another way, if you were with your wife for 20 years and she cheated on you with "1 guy".......what is she judged on?

I still get weekly therapy from that Diggs play.

the best corner duo we've had in a long, long time...yet we've seen little of them playing together because of injury.
i'd still rather keep'm than not.

Bland is out best corner by a mile. He is a very very good corner and can be elite if used properly.

Mason Graham is special. I'm moving up for him, no one else. If we must. I suspect the saints will take Jeanty just before our pick. So he won't be an option.

Yeah its you....Neither Diggs nor Bland were great fits to maximize their abilities in Zimmers defense though. The Cowboys need to get better production from the safety position and let these guys be aggressive and attack the football. Not sure if Eberflus is the guy for that either though...
But GM Jethro does not value DT's and Safeties for some reason.

You don't respect the effects of getting the best receiver or running back ... player, and then focus positional holes?
Nope, that is the casual fan follow the ball way of thinking. RBs and WRs are rendered useless by explosive DTs. See super bowl.

That's your issue. There are plenty of examples of Diggs coming up and making tackles, although it definitely is not his strength as a corner. He missed on that play, that shouldn't define him, but it does for too many of our fans.

Here's the play again just so you can enjoy it. Kittle was juggling the ball to make the catch. Diggs went for the ball instead of the player because he's always going to go for the ball. That caused him to completely miss Kittle as he pulled in the catch and moved inside of where Diggs was going. It was a poor choice because Diggs had a better chance of dislodging the ball with a big hit, but the way the NFL calls penalties on big hits, I can't blame him for that. He tried to throw a shoulder into where he thought the ball that Kittle was juggling was going to be but whiffed.

That does not absolve Diggs from other times when he's missed a tackle, but I don't see a lack of effort there. I see a really good catch that negated Diggs' plan of action. Just cause he whiffed doesn't mean he wasn't trying. It just made it turn out uglier than the effort.

The dead cap money would be awful. Trading him is the only option. Hope some team is willing to take on his contract. It was another terrible deal.
I don’t know if you could trade him right now. But if both were healthy I’d trade Diggs and keep bland. Reasoning, bland is much better against run and even though you’d sign him he’d be cheaper next year or so while Diggs is past his cheap pay years

Maybe if you think a CB shouldn't ever give up plays. A lot of yall think players can't have a bad game.

I'm OK with fans having a different opinion than I do, you go for it.

I enjoyed Diggs INT season, the pick 6 from Hurts being a highlight. I just don't see a consistent performer putting "team first, me second"

Graham is close
He sure appears to be. I don’t think he falls to us and to be honest Michigan players scare me. But he’s the best DT in this draft. Also the position is really hard to draft. We need WR and RB but both of those positions are easier to draft later than DT

Fair enough. With how this team has let us down for so long, it's really not worth arguing.

I think Diggs is better than the reputation that he got off that San Francisco game (similar to how some labeled Romo a choker based on some select performances, and held on to it even when he disproved it multiple times).

Once we get an idea in our heads then sometimes that's all we see, so every missed tackle by Diggs gets amplified. But I'm tired of what I've seen from this team, particularly the front office, so have at them.

How about Nato? I served there for decades and played football much longer. Best man available...
