Mike Green metrics

They measured him at the Senior Bowl.
Weight put on for a weigh in is much different than playing weight a player can hold during the season.
His playing weight looks to be closer to 235 without the frame to gain or maintain more.
He looks like an undersized hback TE!

This is what I'm talking about.......pick this kid at 12 and don't look back. DT with 2nd and RB with 3rd. Free agent WR and LBer......

Dallas Cowboys mailbag: Questions on Mike Green, Brian Schottenheimer and the coaching staff

Here is our latest Dallas Cowboys mailbag.

“Why’s everyone high on Mike Green from Marshall and should the Cowboys draft him at 12?”

(Ryan Jones on Facebook)

Mike: Some people will say to pick him at 12 is too rich, but post-combine people will soon change that tune. Picking a defensive end early isn’t a bad way to go for Dallas and pairing an elite pass rusher opposite Micah Parsons would make this defense lethal. Mike Green led all of the FBS in sacks (17) and earned All-American honors and the Sun Belt Player of the Year award after an insane final season at Marshall

I like Green, but not with the Cowboys. Green's numbers make it seem like a good idea to pair with Parsons on the opposite side. The problem I see is that we'll end up being soft on the edge's as in terms of stopping the run.
See his run defense.

Marshall plays a 3-4 defense as its base and Green was a stand-up edge ...basically an outside LB. Green is best suited for a 3-4 to where he can be protected by his DL and allow him to use his quickness and athletic ability. I'm not saying he can't play with his hand in the dirt on occasion, but if he is forced to it takes away from what he does best, which is create pressure. Parsons is actually best suited for a 3-4 as well.
The Cowboys have to work on fixing their run defense and getting another player like Parsons to "force a fit " into our 4-3 scheme is senseless.
Which is why I'm disappointed in Eberflus. Even though he's a good coach, I don't think he fits Micah best.

Would love to hear someone ask the powers that be why he was chosen... even though I know familiarity to the Joneses is the real answer.

He then proceeded to dominate for a week at that weight. You’re making up your own narrative. Mike Green has plenty of size and strength to play DE in the NFL.

It's senseless we continue with a 4-3

They need to improve on the edges but if they draft someone he better be able to contain the run. Every position on the DL is a need at this point. They have Kneeland and Parsons, plus Sam Williams coming off an injury. if they draft another DE early, they will be okay there barring injury. I can see them re-signing Golston.

DT is another matter. They have Mazi, Justin Rodgers and Denzel Daxon on the roster. I am assuming they will not re-sign Osa, especially if his price is$20 million or more. They need to draft a DT tackle. The draft simulators are not realistic, but every time I run a simulation I come across 3 or 4 DTs I would be willing to draft early and late. This draft has a lot of potential NFL DTs.

he is too small to play as a top DE in the NFL. He would be a pass rushing specialist and nothing more. He would get eaten up on running plays by NFL Tackles
