Most Super Bowl wins in history - just a reminder

In terms of overall wins the Cowboys leave the Giants and Commanders in the dust the past 24 years. But the Giants had those two title runs and Washington has last season's NFC CG to point to.

The Cowboys have one more playoff win and haven't made it to the conference game. Yeah, I'd say they're worse. Unless you count the name change.
I went through all the reasons why Washington has been worse including their 14 losing seasons since 2002.

I understand that.

Please see post #66 per the info I've given. It's easy to see that the Cowboys haven't been worse overall vs Washington per their record.

That said, I think we can both agree that over the last 20 years, expectations have been higher for the cowboys more so than the commanders, and ironically enough, it was last years season where Washington has gotten further in the playoffs than Dallas ever has ever gotten since 1995.

Washington could be a one year hit wonder, but if they're not, and they actually build on what they have and Dallas still has Jerry running the show at what, age 87 (? 5 years from now), it may be a race to the bottom of the NFC east between the cowboys and the giants.

I do think the commodes future at this point looks brighter only for the fact that it's all new to them and their ownership...

Who knows, next year could be the year that Jerry turns things around and goes all in to make a run at the superbowl!
I gave my opinion. Washington has been worse. Enduring 14 losing seasons since 2002, along with numerous QB and HC changes makes them worse.

I agree with your opinion per total record.

My only point was that Washington fans can look forward to their future the way they played last year, and that in another 5 years, it is possible given the new ownership and leadership of Washington, we may not be able to say Washington has been worse the last 5 years if we're talking again in 2030.

I get the fact that Jerry wants to maintain relevancy of his team being talked about and not being at the bottom of a barrel, but it would be nice if he actually made a push to try to make it to the superbowl.

There’s no argument Washington’s future looks brighter but there’s no assurances. Their future looked brighter than ours after they beat us in a season finale elimination game in 2012 with what appeared to be a great young rookie QB. Things didn’t turn out so good for them after that year. Despite reaching the NFC title game they got destroyed by a great Philly team. It’s not going to be easy for anyone in the division to get past them. Philly could dominant the East for years. I’m more concerned about them. We beat Washington and should have beat them the second time.

I honestly wouldn't be worried about what anyone else is doing in your line of business (being a NFL owner and general manager in this case). I'd be worried about what I'm doing and knowing what my game plan is and what I need to do to make it happen.

This is exactly why Jerry Jones worries me as far as trying to make a run for the super bowl with his team. Exactly what has he done over the last 20 years to give anyone any speck of hope that he actually wants to win the big one and not just be relevant in the news where he can be in front of the media?

That said, he's a multi billionaire, and I am not.

You have to be worried about what Philly is doing because to reach a SB we have to get past them. I remember in the 90s, SF designed their drafts to get past the Cowboys in the playoffs. All their moves was to try and move ahead of us.

I should rephrase my last comment...

First, you need to worry about what you're going to do and what kind of game plan you have and how are you going to make that happen, then when you get to that point, THEN you worry what the other guy is thinking about / doing and then try to get ahead of them.

I don't think Jerry is actually getting past of having a game plan and what he's going to do, do you?

It seems like Jerry is always 6 months behind everyone else when he's running his business as a GM, and at times unless your related to Jerry, you have no clue what kind of "master plan" he's coming up with.

Yes, the cowboys are 217-187 in the last 25 years, but in those 25 years, when was the last time Jerry seemed to have a long term plan to build the team into more than what it is today? The way he handles things (such as Dak's contract and his last head coaches departure) just leaves me scratching my head because he seems reactionary vs being proactive.

He’s stuck in his ways. He has a game plan that never works. It’s the same plan over and over again especially with free agency. He’s like an old dog who can’t learn new tricks. He repeats the same BS year after year.

Not in my opinion. A 1 in 10 chance is better odds than a 1 in 32 chance.
Actually, with so much talent spread out not just in players but coaching and otherwise, I would argue its easier now. Back then you could have two or three teams that have it all that you have to fight it out with to win a ring. BUT they are concentrated; now they are all over the place. You can get by without playing them if they get knocked off by a lesser team having a very good day.

But one of those two or three teams could eliminate the other one or two, and then have an injury, a bad game, etc., leaving an easy road to the championship. Or a lesser team could just get lucky once or twice and win it all. Also, without a salary cap, a team could essentially buy a championship, if they were willing to spend.

Theoretically, today's league is designed to create parity, making it more difficult to build a dominant team. (Though obviously, it doesn't always work out that way.)
