OC Klayton Adams comments on offense

Imposing their will. Dictating to the defense instead of the other way around. Be less dependent on the QB.

Not rocket science stuff. Just basic Football 101.
Thats right and it would be better for Dak to throw the ball 27 times a game instead of 47 times.I am pleased with the direction this team is headed on offense ,the coaching staff looks real good.Play action and motion with a strong running game will be fun to watch .

You can try to disguise things all you want but the defense will just send more pressure in the face of Dak on key 3rd downs. I can't remember the last time I saw Dak stand up in the face of pressure and deliver a strike while getting hit. He's at the stage where he's counting money and would rather just curl up into the fetal position and go down. I can't blame him though.
Eli rarely risked being hit in the pocket. He would go down before that. It’s a big reason he avoided injury and a contributor to his pathway to the HoF.

You can try to cover it up any way you want, but when you're limited to short yardage passes, the defense doesn't respect you and your running game will suffer.
The Cowboys have never been limited to short passes. Our current QB is what he is and needs support, but pushing the ball down the field has never been a problem for him from Dez to Gallup and Cooper and Lamb. Our pass game is only short when wideouts can’t get open or pass protection sucks.

If you’ve been following the coaching theme since Shottenhiemer was hired, disguise simply means they want run and pass plays to look the same. That is key to success on first and second downs as well as staying ahead of the sticks. Once you get into 3rd and long, whether it’s due to penalty, lack of execution, or a great defensive play, that’s when you must have blockers who can block, receivers who can separate, and a QB who can deliver the ball; that’s when you aren’t tricking anyone.

Possible. But in recent years defenses have had such little respect for the run game that the passing game suffered. If a D knows they can shut down the run with a light box your receivers are trying to get open in a crowded secondary. Consistent run game helps everyone. You have to be able to run even when they know you're gonna run and get positive yards. Even when Garrett was here, it would drive me crazy when he would say "the defense dictated that we pass on the down". How easy is it to scheme against a team that YOU can dictate when they run or pass just by showing them a certain pre-snap look. Ya think Emmitt ran against some loaded boxes? i think so.
Emmitt, in his prime, ran against 8 in the box. Every play.

should we just go without an OC then? Seems futile to even try.

Eli threw 8 touchdown passes to 1 int on the road to a SB. Eli stepped his play up considerably and inspired his 10th ranked defense to play like #1 defense.

Only chance the Cowboys have is a heavy strong running game and good defense. That will carry a team far but not to a championship. You still need that QB to make some throws in let moments.
Well we're stuck with the QB, and the OC still has to play the cards the house deals him.

I hope these guys serving as Shotty's staff figure out workable solutions to making their offense work well. God knows it's a big challenge!
