OC Klayton Adams comments on offense

They are halfway through. Guyton and Beebe last year. Replace Martin and Steele this year.
This is no rebuild.

We replaced players that left.

A rebuild is a planned active change with the goal to replace a whole group. This is a reactive replacement of certain players because out of a need situation.
I guess you think because we signed cooks and let Gallup walk we rebuilding our WRs also?!

And whats more we have failed to replace those OL players badly.

Guyton seems to be a bust. He is what he was in college and never developed this year. He was benched remember?
Tylor Smith was the first try to replace Tyron. Now he plays guard to not be a total bust. At least we were lucky he is able to be a good guard.

Beebe doesnt look good. He is nowehre near a replacement for the centers before him. I hope he will get better.

So we replaced a guard and maybe a center.

You can try to disguise things all you want but the defense will just send more pressure in the face of Dak on key 3rd downs. I can't remember the last time I saw Dak stand up in the face of pressure and deliver a strike while getting hit. He's at the stage where he's counting money and would rather just curl up into the fetal position and go down. I can't blame him though.
Based on last year's (2024) Dak highlights, just in the first 10 plays shown, Dak "stood up in the face of pressure 4 times out of the first 10 plays shown and delivered a strike". Plays 2, 4, 7 & 10... Dak even got hit on that 10th play as he was releasing his pass for a strike.

The Cowboys have never been limited to short passes. Our current QB is what he is and needs support, but pushing the ball down the field has never been a problem for him from Dez to Gallup and Cooper and Lamb. Our pass game is only short when wideouts can’t get open or pass protection sucks.
Maybe people do get open, they're just not open enough for Dak.
There's a major difference in the guy post injury.
Gallup and Cooper were upset because they felt they were open and never got the football.
Lamb has most of his success by catching short lateral routes and then running after the catch.
Dak had great success under Moore, because Kellen used lamb and Pollard on horizontal routes and had great success. You also saw Pollard on a wheel route take it for 50 yd because he was good, quick, and Kellen designed routes to clear a path for him.
The only deep throws you see are ones that are beyond the defense where they cannot be intercepted. You don't see a lot of 10 to 15 yd routes, usually TE coming across.
Since the injury Dak has a problem, planting his ankle and he tries to compensate by using extra arm, which results in sailing passes.
I would like to play along side Dak as a teammate myself, besides his sometime corny statements he's a fighter.

but I think his successful days in the NFl are over and it's time to take his 100 million or so he's accumulated and retire.
The reason schottenheimer was hired?
he knows Dak's limitations and convinced Jerry he can reinvent the wheel.

You can try to cover it up any way you want, but when you're limited to short yardage passes, the defense doesn't respect you and your running game will suffer.
West Coast has stuck around and worked for a very long time...

The West Coast offense is not all short passes. It's a lot of 10 to 15 yd stuff to tight ends and slots.
I don't care what offense you're running on. Third and 7, you've got to be able to complete at least a 6 to 15 yd pass. And our guy can't do that.
We end up dumping it off for 1 or 2 yd. Because we cannot squeeze a ball in with 1 yd of separation.

Only chance the Cowboys have is a heavy strong running game and good defense. That will carry a team far but not to a championship. You still need that QB to make some throws in let moments.
This coaching staff I believe will reduce Daks throws per game ,play action and motion will really improve this offense.I am looking forward to see who is brought in through free agency and the draft to make this plan come together. Some dawgs on both the offensive and defensive lines must happen along with speed at running back and wide receiver. The coaching staff is improved now the roster has to be infused with talent ,and Dallas is back in the playoffs.

I think they could be improved and still not make the playoffs. The Cowboys have slid down to the middle of the pack outside looking in and they have a very tough schedule.

another thing I like about this guy is you read his bio and he was a walk on at Boise State and became second team all WAC linebacker.
He’s been an offensive line coach he’s been a passing game coordinator. He’s been a tight end coach, etc..
Stanford originally signed him as well and then he decided to go to the Cardinals so he’s got a good pedigree. This guy people think highly enough of him to hire him in a number of different positions over his short career. He’s only 42 years old.
I like that cardinal team a lot last year. I’m a big fan of Kyler Murray or I should say I was after he had a horrendous end to the season.
Murray threw three or four of the worst INT’s in the NFL in the last three weeks of the season to see the Cardinals choke themselves out of the playoffs.
They had an excellent running game there with James Connor.

Good things to come with this guy I have no doubt.

Eli threw 8 touchdown passes to 1 int on the road to a SB. Eli stepped his play up considerably and inspired his 10th ranked defense to play like #1 defense.
Maybe, but it doesn’t change that he would go down and take the sack instead of standing in and take a hit.

Oops

100%, opposing defenses knew the Cowboys offense ran through Emmitt. Everything else complimented the run game. What's more amazing is defenses were built to stop the running game then, now offenses are built to stop the pass.
Having a dominant OL helped , but in this era whenever we had a dominant OL run game was good , but if the opposing defenses dont fear the QB arm , meaning accurate long passes then they can scheme and take out the short passing and contain run game .
