Knight Jr. looked good to me in zone coverages keeping his head on a swivel and reading the QB. It wouldn't matter because I'd take him as a two down.Knight is a 2 down player and Carter doesn’t know what the word instincts means.
Certainly does, he could very well be in playThat's the first trait I look for, being fast doesn't help if you fill the wrong hole or overrun the play. Here's the write up on Schwesinger, he sounds like an Eberflus guy
Overview
Schwesinger went from walk-on to All-American at UCLA. He’s a human bloodhound, pairing elite instincts with an understanding of blocking schemes and run tracks. The pursuit speed is average but his play recognition helps him play fast. He’s undersized and takes the worst of it when blockers get on top of him, but he’s a good athlete in coverage. He’s also a sound technician as an open-field tackler and bona fide standout on special teams. Schwesinger was a starter for only one season, but his instincts, athleticism and competitiveness help him project as a future starter either inside or as a 4-3 Will linebacker.

- Rare instincts for maneuvering inside and avoiding blocks.
- Body control and agility in short spaces is first class.
- Plays fast and sees run-lane development like a running back.
- Deciphers play-action and mesh-point shenanigans quickly.
- Able to drop his weight and explode laterally as a tackler.
- Has hips, feet and eyes to cover ground in zone.
- Special-teams star who is resolute on kick coverage.

Honestly, I think they look for the next Kendricks type. Former player who knows the scheme and will help with the transition.IMo, Not up to Eberflus per free agency and drafting ... it's up to McClay and Cap Boy Stephen,.. Schotty and Eber will flay to the way and path of Cap Boy crew,.. gone are the days of marinelli influence - we paid heavy toll land price for that.
- Cap Boy is gonna give the word to seek out"
- " cheap" FA bargain gem per McClay ...a Money Ball approach.
- or it could be a late round trade bargain deal ...ala Gimore, Cooks, Griffin
- or Cap Boy will once again put the burden on McClay in the NFL draft
Per Draft ,Methink it " should " go the way of McClay draft board , in accordance ot value ... Best graded player on the board .. per WR CeeDee Lamb over DE K'Lavon Chaisson (Jax Jaguars)
- Don't get me wrong, I do think we will be drafting LBs , - especially with the tragic Overshown issue I'm just not sure in what rounds in according to McClay's board.
One mock allowed me to trade down twice from 12 to 20 and added an extra 2025 2nd, 2026 3rd and 4th. My point is you could then draft LBer, top 5 DT and RB ( Johnson was still avail )Or a trade back into round 1. Although thats less likely. He fits like a glove though. I really dont see him lasting to 44
is he allowed to bring in those guys, how much will they cost is the key questionEberflus 1st fa signings as the Bears HC were two linebackers, Tremaine Edmunds and TJ Edwards. In his first year as Colts DC he drafted Darius Leonard who was the Defensive Rookie of the Year.
With the injury of Overshown and no timetable if and when he comes back, along with the pending fa of Kendricks, expect a overhaul for the positional group. All they have is a young prospect in Marist. There is little to no chance they don't sign a veteran fa starter, if not two and also use a high pick at the position as well.
We have mentioned Bolton, Spilliane from the Raiders recently, EJ Speed as possible fa targets.
As for the draft, won't rule out Campbell from Alabama, Schwesinger from UCLA, Stutsman from Okla.
Think Speed will be more in their usually price range, the other two are long shots.is he allowed to bring in those guys, how much will they cost is the key question
gotcha!Think Speed will be more in their usually price range, the other two are long shots.
What draft value have you seen on him? I'm interested in both him and Stutsman, but was hoping we could wait until the third to get one, spending the first and second on a DT and RB. Of course, a lot will depend on what we do in free agency and whether the front office sees the needs the same as the fans. Often they do not. That's the first trait I look for, being fast doesn't help if you fill the wrong hole or overrun the play. Here's the write up on Schwesinger, he sounds like an Eberflus guy

I mean is that likely to happen in real life though? Im not fan of Mock simulator trades. They just take fans farther away from realityOne mock allowed me to trade down twice from 12 to 20 and added an extra 2025 2nd, 2026 3rd and 4th. E.J. Speed would make sense from that standpoint, but I believe he's more of a WLB than MLB. I'm not sure that Eberflus is going to want to count on Liufau as his MLB.Honestly, I think they look for the next Kendricks type. Former player who knows the scheme and will help with the transition.
He also traded Roquan Smith.Eberflus 1st fa signings as the Bears HC were two linebackers, Tremaine Edmunds and TJ Edwards. In his first year as Colts DC he drafted Darius Leonard who was the Defensive Rookie of the Year.

So they dropped a 3rd on a guy to be the Mike but then not play him after a year of development?E.J. Speed would make sense from that standpoint, but I believe he's more of a WLB than MLB. I'm not sure that Eberflus is going to want to count on Liufau as his MLB.
Yes the 3T is the engine to this schemeHe also traded Roquan Smith.
In Indianapolis they traded a 1st for Buckner despite Denico Autry generating 20 sacks at the 3tech position from 2018-20. His defense is reliant of the DTs controlling their gaps vs the run so the LBs can flow to the ball. It’s reliant on the 3tech being able to recognize and get into his pass rush quickly to create pressure along with the 7tech on passing plays. A large part of why his defense in Chicago failed was because they could never sort out the 3tech. Everything you read about his defense says it revolves around the 3tech. That’s fairly clear when looking at the different results of the 2 teams he’s been involved with!
Voch and Broaddus said this is a terrible draft for linebackers. Campbell is a stud though. I certainly would consider him as a first round option. I would use the Dowdle money to sign Bolton in free agency. The Cowboys drafted Boss man over Bolton and the Notre Dame kid.Eberflus 1st fa signings as the Bears HC were two linebackers, Tremaine Edmunds and TJ Edwards. Yes, he is more of a will. Marist with a veteran would make senseE.J. Speed would make sense from that standpoint, but I believe he's more of a WLB than MLB. I'm not sure that Eberflus is going to want to count on Liufau as his MLB.
Right now he's ranked 32nd on NFL with a grade of plus starter w/i 2 years but it looks like he's still working through the prospects. Their rankings usually go through three phases. The initial rankings are based on film and comments from NFL scouts (lance is pretty connected). The second edition is post combine and usually has quite a few changes. The final edition usually doesn't have as many changes but mostly tweaks. What draft value have you seen on him? I'm interested in both him and Stutsman, but was hoping we could wait until the third to get one, spending the first and second on a DT and RB. A third-round pick guarantees nothing, and frankly, I think Liufau is more of a Sam. MLB is one of the key positions in the success of this scheme, so we need to do what it takes to make sure that position is strong. So they dropped a 3rd on a guy to be the Mike but then not play him after a year of development?
