Would the Jones' ever make a move like this?

I thought Will McClay was supposed to be our version of the Eagle's GM??????????
Will McClay misses more than he hits. He doesn't have all the power of a GM like Roseman but as a talent evaluater he's struck out a lot lately

Jerry used to be willing to write large checks. In fact, he was more willing to throw money around than pretty much any owner. The one thing he wasn't willing to do was let someone else be GM, and then he decided to stop throwing money around. I don't know if Stephen talked him into the current team philosophy or if Jerry came to the conclusion on his own, but they just decided that expensive outside free agents weren't the way to go. Despite teams like the Eagles proving that you can use free agency to supplement your drafts and low-cost players, the Joneses have stubbornly stuck to their philosophy.
I read a lot of books on the Cowboys and back in 1995, Stephen opposed the Deion Sanders signing. Even back then he was worried about the salary cap.

Now Stephen has more power than ever and that's why this team has not signed a marquee free agent since Brandon Carr in 2012.

Guess he finally talked Jerry into seeing it his way by convincing him that he'd never get his money's worth.

Jones's have a guy who produced more wins, division titles, playoff appearances and better head to head than Howie over a 10 year 163 game stretch

and what do we have to show for it?

will our kids be looking back on this "stretch" telling their kids how amazing this time was to be a Cowboys fan?

Guy literally just drafted a pantheon WR, pantheon pass rusher, a fourth rd all pro, second round all pro, pro bowl center , pro bowl guard

4th rd te Osa good .. Sam Williams was penciled as starter. Overshown is a freak of nature. even Tolbert has some usefulness. Let's not close the books on guyton-bebee and the entire class of 2024.

You cowboys fans. are really ridiculous

oh let me guess everyone in here is going to be upset that there are no rumors coming that the Cowboys could possibly maybe be rumored to also do something like this,

did you know what the word rumor is ?did you even listen to the story not a single freaking official from The Jets said this... this is from a media person who covers The Jets saying wouldn't it be great if they thought outside the box and did something like this, but if you listen to how the words were twisted or making you think that they said this would be a possibility, and it's not even remotely a thought in The Jets mind..

first hurdle, it would draft picks like it would when you trade for a player you know like 1-3 first rounders, like it has been done for some head coaches and the eagles would have to agree to it and HR have to agree to it. but it's so funny when people get riled up over a suggested rumor is not even a real rumor ,because it didn't come from The Jets it came from people who cover The Jets that saying they need to do something like this to turn the franchise around.. lmao

But the same 5 or 6 people will come in here that do this on every thread and RIP Jerry Jones for not starting a rumor that this is a possibility and they'll say why won't he do it because teams don't typically do that because it costs too much money and I believe there might even be tampering involved like I don't know how this works but people are under contract with corporations and teams you have to get permission just to start a rumor like this because if you've been trying to steal him away without permission I believe there's tampering but either way you guys will all get your panties in A twist because somebody didn't start a rumor that the Cowboys might do something like this wouldn't show me the last time any team has done this like show me other teams outside of the Jerry Jones run Dallas Cowboys that you say they don't do crazy stuff well show me all the other teams that do this crazy stuff show me tell me the last time a GM or even a head coach was taken from another team and show me how often it happens before you RIP Jerry for not doing something that probably is so rare that you won't be able to find me 5 instances over the last 20 years that has happened I bet you can't find 5..

ughh:facepalm:

Curious on how GM contracts even work in terms of wanting to leave/rights?

Is it similar to coaches, a "trade-able" asset? Can he be promoted to President of Football operations without a buyout/trade?

OK now do playoff wins.

Dallas 3 playoff wins never got past Divisional Round

Philly 10 playoff wins including 2 Super Bowls

Counting regular season wins and division titles is hilarious, but JJ appreciates the support.
We are Cowboys fans we can hate JJ AND remind you that 2 is less than 5....damn philly school system...

You're dealing with the wrong Cowboys fan if you think I'm bowing down just cause your team finally made it to the pay window! Not me. I have an underdog mentality. Im not a spoiled elitist like these other Cowboys fans. I've actually seen WAY WORSE times
Funny, I remember even before Jimmy Johnson was hired that the cowboys were generally NEVER considered the underdogs.

Cowboys were the best, and if you wanted to be the best, you had to beat the best.
