I am not sure Brady would come to Dallas but I would absolutely check it out. Probably same with Brees. Here is the thing though, the guys you are targeting if you are going after an FA are probably somebody like Bridgewater or Keenum, somebody in that area. That salary works and they have enough up side to be able to win for you, IMO, if needed and you can manage the cap with that salary. Rivers would be a guy but I don't think he fits the WCO.

So the thing I see here is to go out and get a Vet who will allow you to go forward. Go out and draft a QB and make that pick early. Leave the ball in Dak's court and if he doesn't show up in camp, then let him sit and deal with it because honestly, if the reports we've heard are true, we aren't going to be able to deal with him and his agent either way, unless we just give in. You can't do business that way.

Now, clearly I am pointing to a Brady, Brees, Bridgewater or Keenum as our Vet starter. I don't even mention Hill. In the next post, a seperate post, I say I love Hill, which is true. I do like Hill as a kid to develop and I say this in post #47. I am responding directly to you so you can't act like you don't know what I was trying to say with Hill.

Well, have you read any of my posts? I mean, it's not a stretch. I advocate a young QB option to develop and a Vet QB. Now, obviously Taysom Hill isn't the Vet option right? So what does that make him?

For the record, we don't have a QB. The "QB we have" that you are referring to is who exactly? It's not Dak, he's not under contract. Not even Rush because he's not under contract either, I don't believe. You see Hill in a very different light then I do and then does Nola, BTW. You never answer the question I asked but instead, say that you liked Romo but he turned the ball over too much. Well, I'm here to tell you that Romo was better then Dak was when he became a starter IMO. You say he became the starter because he was lighting it up in Practice. OK, do you know what Hill is doing in Practice? I don't, I just know what I saw him do at BYU. Nola is not a stupid organization and Peyton is far from an average HC. HIll has been working with Payton since 2017. I guarantee he's not the same QB he was coming out and I liked what I saw from him then. Maybe you didn't, but I did.

For the record, I mentioned Bridgewater among others, as options. This kid was posted as a side note. He is not my first option as a Vet and I think that's clear in what I posted but if it was not, then I'm making it clear now. He would not be my first choice as the Vet but he might be a guy that I would bring in in place of a draft choice, assuming we didn't get a decent development guy in the draft.

Lastly, if Dak and his agent aren't signing 35 mil a year, then I'm taking anybody over Dak because you can't sign up for that. You can't let Dak and his agent hold the entire team hostage with salary demands. I'm sorry, I am not in for that and so, I would take anybody over that situation because I know that I could get out of anything I sign with a Vet or a developmental guy. I can't get out of that situation with Dak and Frances if I go down that path IMO.

I'm a huge Case Keenum fan but even I know he is no upgrade over Dak. None of the QBs the OP mentioned is an upgrade over Dak.

He would be an upgrade immediately, and at worst would solidify the Cowboys at quarterback if they do eventually sign Dak.
Phillip Rivers is also available, and is an upgrade.
Ryan Tannehill is available.
The Cowboys don't have to be in this soap opera with a guy who went 8-8 but wants to be paid like he is a proven winner.
Signing a veteran like Keenum- who has been a winner- would likely change Dak's attitude towards a new contract.
But I believe that the Cowboys would make it to the NFC Championship game next year with a guy like Keenum under center.

Yes and know. I would love to have a backup the quality of Brady. I don't love Phillips in the WCO. But in reality, you can't keep a guy like Brady and Dak. don't want to get rid of Dak, I just want to sign him to a reasonable deal. If we could get a couple of 1st rounders for him, then I would probably go ahead and do that.

great point. brady, Rodgers, mahomes, etc......all had weapons, coaching and support. its what they accomplished when they had those things.
