QB Index: Ranking every quarterback to start a game in 2019
By Ali Bhanpuri, Tom Blair, Gennaro Filice and Dan Parr NFL.com
Published: Feb. 11, 2020 at 12:21 p.m.

1. Lamar Jackson
2. Patrick Mahomes
3. Russell Wilson
4. Drew Brees
5. Deshaun Watson
6. Ryan Tannehill
7. Aaroon Rodgers
8. Kirk Cousins
9. Matthew Stafford
10. Carson Wentz
11. Dak Prescott

Individual Rank:
Bhanpuri: 11 | Blair: 11 | Filice: 11 | Parr: 11

2019 regular season stats: 16 games | 65.1 pct | 4,902 pass yds | 8.2 ypa | 30 pass TD | 11 INT | 277 rush yds | 3 rush TD | 2 fumbles lost

Blair: Prescott was fantastic at times in the last year of his rookie contract, but the Cowboys missed the playoffs, and he's now in danger of getting stuck in the Cousins Zone: good enough to pay a ton of money but dogged by lingering doubts over his ceiling. For what it's worth, Prescott became one of five quarterbacks since 1950 (joining Russell Wilson, Ben Roethlisberger, Kurt Warner and Deshaun Watson) to post a passer rating of 95-plus in at least three of his first four NFL seasons.

Some other interesting rankings:
14. Tom Brady
15. Jimmy Garoppolo
18. Josh Allen
20. Jared Goff
21. Philip Rivers
34. Case Keenum

Full listing of all 57 here:

Side note - I don't like that this evaluation downgrades Dak because of the ineptness of the coaching staff, extremely poor play by the special teams and defensive liabilities of last year causing the 8-8 final record.

But...but...I was told Case Keenum is just as good as Dak. :muttley:

The Cousins Zone is kind of how I feel - too good to just let walk away but I'm not sure I want to go all-in, either.

Is this where you claim to know what 32 NFL GM’s would do?

In this case.. Yeah pretty much.. There could be a couple here and there that would make the argument that it’s close enough between them that they would take Dak because of his availability.

Most would take Wentz though because he is a superior talent.

Anytime I see Wentzie in the top 10 of any quarterback stat, I know it's a typing fallacy.
From the beginning I have never seen what other people see in Wentz. It has nothing to do with him being on the Eagles or Prescott or anyone or anything else.

He's not a bad quarterback, but he's nothing special. He had one good partial dink-and-dunk season and he has only played 2 full seasons out of the 4 he's been in the league.

In one of those partial seasons we saw a journeyman quarterback take over his team and lead them to a new level and win a Super Bowl .. the only one that team has ever won in fact.

Personally, I hope the Eagles keep him as their starting quarterback for 10 more years at this point.

A broken talent. Some will take Dak because he is simply healthier than Wentz. That Dak's QBR was 4th in 2019 and Wentz's was 11th might be a factor as well.

Gotcha. It’s good to have such inside knowledge into the thought processes of every GM in the NFL.

The GM for the Cowboys would. The one thing that scares me about Wentz is he is not reliable. No one can say that about Dak.

I agree; I relied heavily on Dak in that last eagles game and he delivered beyond my wildest dreams
