On the right team, Joe Burrow could be Troy Aikman 2.0.
Size, accuracy, leadership, moxie.
But the Bengals aren't the right team.

This would be dumb. If you think Burrow is a franchise QB, why on earth would you not take him?
It's not dumb at all. No matter your opinion of Burrow, the Bengals aren't a franchise QB away from even being 8-8. There roster is full of holes. They need a lot of players. There are several QB's in this draft. Trade down and get one. Stockpile picks and make your team better.

There's also no clear standout blue chip prospect.

If someone just a few spaces lower offered a bunch, I'd trade the pick and get Herbert. He might be a better pro anyway.

I would give them Dak, Zeke and a #1 for Burrows. All day long.

But dont expect to have a winning record against good teams for at least 3 years. If ever. LOL

Zeke would be easy to replace.. He’s a RB.

Dak would be replaced with Burrow..

The #1 would be an L but we’d free up a ton of cap space by letting those 2 go that we could use on building the team.

I think we could possibly make the playoffs in year 1 but for sure be in the hunt in year 2.

This reminds me of the 2004 Draft where QB Eli Manning was drafted #1 overall by the Chargers, but 3 picks later, they traded Eli to the Giants while the Chargers then used the Giants' traded #4 overall pick to draft QB Phillip Rivers. Funny but the same thing is probably going to happen once again 16 years later.

What's funny about Burrow going to the length of cozying up to the Palmer family and dispatching Carson Palmer like a scalpel to make some surgical cuts in the press to lay the groundwork for Burrow forcing his way out of Cincy while also not losing a PR war over it is this: Eli Manning already proved you can do it clumsily and without much skill or a deft hand at all, and there's no penalty to pay for being the guy who forces a team's hand like that.

So he's firing up a manipulative PR strategy when he doesn't even have to bother. He can just say, "Yeah, no, I don't wanna play for this team. So I won't. I'd rather play for that team. So they should trade me to them." And it would suffice.

He's playing chess with the Bengals when checkers would've been just fine.

You would do that. You seem to lose it a little more each day.
At this point Im not sure giving up 2 #1s and Dak is bad deal. It would keep the Cowboys on a QB with a rookie salary cap and they wouldnt be restricted with Dak and a 35 mil a year salary. I doubt the bengals would do that. They would want more than that.

Tua reminds a lot of people of Mahomes, same kind of delivery from the other side.

I really felt for Tua. He got screwed out of the Heisman in 2018 because he built up such a lead he didn't play enough and then that freak injury but I don't see any way he could have beaten Burrow out this year for the Heisman. His season is going to last a long time as the one to shoot for.

One thing neither Burrow or Tua is going to have, those receivers they had in college. They could have 2 WR's each go in round 1. They also had good run games and great OL's.
And the D's weren't too shabby either.

Agree 1000%.......I would also add NFL defenses and CBs they'll see is night and day what they faced in college. Remember read something from either Jon Gruden or Mike Shanahan a couple of years ago about reading defenses and how quickly information is processed are two things ALL college QBs struggle with. As one put, college QBs almost never have to his 2nd read coz the first is always open due to soft defenses they face. Completely opposite of what they see in the NFL. Hell this time last year and the year before, media was hyping Murray and Mayfield too as the best thing since sliced bread. Bruce Arian mentions in his book how he hates rookie QBs coz time and effort it takes to break them in and you still have no clue what you're going when they're forced to handle the pressure teammates, fans, media, coaches, opponents. This is why I laugh when fans suggest we'll just draft Dak replacement like it's THAT easy. IF I was forced to replace Dak, I'd rather have a smart 2nd string vet with some games under his belt......JMO.

Burrow looks incredible, but no guarantees he becomes even as good as Dak. Also no guarantees that will be his rookie year. Most QB's cant do that rookie their year.

Anyway, its a pipe dream. But I would do it because I really like the potential of Burrows. Might work if we could fill a lot of holes. But if we go out and sign some huge FA's for big money then we will be right back in the #$%#. And as it will probably take Burrows some time to mature, plenty of these current studs will be over the hill.

If that is true why would that be of interest in Dallas? The Cowboys aren't going to blow several picks to get Burrow and then let the #1 free agent just walk not to mention kissing off any chance of getting any starting talent to fill any of the other holes that are staring the Cowboys in the eye.

LOL. 61.5% career competions. Your delusional.
http://www.nfl.com/player/troyaikman/2499369/careerstats

He finished in the top ten for completion percentage 8 times during his career. He finished in the top five for completion percentage 6 times during his career. He finished in the top two for completion percentage 5 times during his career. And he led the league once for completion percentage. Yes, Troy Aikman was a very accurate passer.

So did Dallas when we got Aikman. Maybe because I have such a high level of confidence in Burrow I would not let him get away. I think the guy will be special and can help turn around a team quick.

Yea. I’m not going to name them all but the list of first round QBs who were successful is even more impressive. If you have a chance to take a premier talent you do it. Now I’m not advocating trading Dak. I’m just saying
list 'em. i for sure didn't list them all. the point is what % of 1st round CAN'T MISS QB's in fact, miss?

far more than i'd feel comfortable just rolling the dice there again. but it's hard to "debate" someone who just wants to say "xyz is true" w/o any verification or validation.

or is this where i'm supposed to go "oh, wow. ok. some dude in a forum said so, ergo it must be true". that doesn't work in the political forums i visit, and it doesn't work here. not for me anyway.
