Assuming Cooper is re-signed and keeps posting productive numbers (pretty plausible, assuming McCarthy is super onboard for him as a starting WR, and assuming injuries don't de-rail him), we got a very good player out of our 1st rounder. Pretending that's not part of the equation is silly.
Pollard looks like a homerun of a pick, and the second Zeke gets hurt and Pollard is given a stretch to be showcased, I think that pick looks even better. If, on the other hand, Pollard continues helping out and it keeps Zeke healthy and effective having a quality backup, that's a win too. (Not unlike how Emmitt benefited when we went and got Chris Warren to finally give us a backup worth taking some work off Emmitt's plate so he could be a better player, even if he wasn't getting the entire RB workload anymore.)
I imagine McGovern is in a similar boat as Pollard where, as soon as an injury opens the door for him to start, he'll look like he belongs. I mean, it's not asking much to step into a guard spot and be the 5th best lineman on the field for our offense. Those are the lowest possible stakes. He should be able to do well in that situation when he gets the chance.
The dream scenario is that Donovan Wilson is given a shot and proves to be a ballhawk who makes plays. I hope our new coaching staff sees some tape of him making plays and decides to put the bit in his mouth and see if he's ready to run with it.
My hopes for Hill are hilariously low at this point. With Marinelli, the guy who liked him, gone? I dunno, man, but it doesn't look good.
