Would you trade for him and what would you give up in return?

He will make 10 million next year and will then need to be resigned.

Why would Dallas be talking on releasing one of the best in the league Jones (due to two other big contracts in Dak & Coop), only to pick up another for a few million less? How's that saving them any money?!o_O

If you are going to give out big dollars to a CB, you may as well keep Byron Jones and save the draft picks
They can't afford to keep him.

Haven't seen anything on his 2019 grades by PFF but in 18:

"Only Marlon Humphrey (87.8) and Stephon Gilmore (87.6) earned higher coverage grades at outside cornerback than Slay (85.8) in 2018, and his three-year coverage grade at outside cornerback (90.5) ranks fifth among qualifiers."
https://www.pff.com/news/pro-darius...d-warrant-heavy-praise-not-a-new-contract-yet

I would be wary giving a corner a 3rd contract, that will probably be huge, where he'll be 30 to start that contract too.

Always a huge roll of the dice expecting a corner not to lose some athletic ability once he hits 30. Some can play well into their 30's, others can't.

Anywho, can't see the point of trading a pick for Slay+deal when you could just re-sign a young Jones.

Slay has more of a nose for the ball, but is it worth a pick+big deal for a soon to be 30 year old player?

Odds are Dallas isn't that interested.

If we aren't willing to sign Jones to a $15MM at CB why would we want to then have to sign Slay to a similar contract a year from now?

Jones is also two years younger.

yes, Slay is older but he has 19 career INTs, (including finished tied for INT lead in 2017) .... ... to Byron Jones's what .... a mere 2 career INTs ?

There's more to great CB play than interceptions.

It makes zero sense to let Jones walk, trade away a high pick or a player for Slay and then have to pay a 30 year old a big, long term contract for a CB.

He really isn't.

But I get it. You are on an anti-Jones trip.

To get Slay you'd have to trade away things of value AND THEN sign him to a massive deal. Slay isn't that much better than Jones to justify not only giving him a huge contract but also having to trade away valuable assets to get him.

Dallas should of been shopping Jones last year if they knew they weren't going to resign him...

only trade for slay if they would take a player like zeke. Then maybe a 3rd rounder.

slay is much better. Actually makes interceptions.

If the rumors are true, Lions are looking for a 2nd, at least. I wouldn't give up either for Slay.

Well, I take that back............... I want out from Elliott's contract. So I'd trade Elliott and not even bother to consider resigning Slay at this point.

I am just against paying CBs elite money.

Let's face it, we are gonna pay either way if we are going to have a talented, experienced corner next season.

Slay does pick off passes though. Not saying we should trade for him, but there is a reason why he might be better than Jones.
