I guess that Joint Venture didn't work out for him... lol

Man, it's weird.
McCarthy is now the HC of the Cowboys and we have
all this talk of Dez... and now Irving wanting to play again.

Dez, screwed by the no-catch that he held onto for 6 yards!... smh
Irving, who, the following year, was held for about 8 seconds.
Both of those games were lost to GB who's HC was McCarthy.
Weird.

He absolutely demolished GB. Maybe his best game ever. For that reason alone MM should be interested.
Irving is a guy who played 37 games in 4 seasons. He’s about as reliable as rain in Dallas in July. No question the guy has talent. But I certainly question his commitment and sanity. There are probably 10-15 guys we could either draft or sign in free agency that would be better than this guy.

For me, an absolute NO THANKS.

I think Dallas has to do their due diligence for sure here.

Irving + Gregory = Cheech & Chong

Do the Cowboys even retain his rights? I'm not sure they do?

Exactly..

If they allow ganja and he wants to play football it’s a win win for both sides..

This is a high end player.. If he was some jag I would be against it but David Irving is incredible.
Irving is incredibly stupid.

In other words, He's out of cash to buy weed!!!!
Exactly. He could have tried reinstating before last season but refused to do so. Seahawks Josh Gordon was reinstated in August 2019 right before the new season had started and his charges were worse.

Not worth it. Irving's missed 2 full seasons. Dallas doesn't need a distraction/druggie heading into a new era.

That’s the problem he couldn’t pass a drug test

He couldn't pass a drug test because he didn't WANT to pass a drug test.
He doesn't want football, he wants more money for more drugs.
Been there done that. Hopefully Jerry won't make the same exact mistake a second time.

Totally agree. Don't gamble away a roster spot on a guy who already proved that he likes drugs more than football. That's a prescription for failure.
Just draft a good DL for a change and stop gambling on losers.

The guy couldn't follow league rules and give up pot for just a few years to make enough money to retire on. Why exactly do people want him back? There are players out there who can make a different that aren't idiots.

So, what makes people believe he won't go AWOL again next time he hits a speed bump in his life? Weed didn't cause him to miss most of training camp. Nor why he never bothered showing up for the playoffs. Even as Jerry was begging the coaches to get him involved.

Hey. I would love to have a motivated Irving again. But I'm not sure that guy exists

The Cowboys washed their hands of this pothead. They should stay away from him. He already quit once.

It is not just a matter of him smoking pot. He is unreliable and a head case. Irving wants to play at his convenience. Obviously he is not committed to carving out a career in the NFL. Money is not a means to an end but an end to his means.
