It was 27.5m which was the highest avg annual at the time
74.1m in guaranteed which was 2nd most at the time
48.7m fully guaranteed at signing which was 3rd most at the time
So it was top 3 contract in all areas. They did a good job of front loading it the 1st year with a 28m roster bouns which put his cap hit at 37m the 1st year. And they wouldnt have much dead money but they would have 4.2m if they cut him today, 2.8m before the 2021 season and 1.4m before the 2022 season. Thats pretty good and they did a good job of front loading it, But they did give him top avg annual and top 3 in both total guarantee and fully guarantee. The reason you think it looks good now with the total guarantee and fully guarantee is because Cousins, Ryan, Wentz, Goff, Rodgers, and Wilson have all passed him since.
The Niners rolled the dice. BUT, they did not hamstring the franchise for 4-5 years if it didn't work out. They could cut Jimmy G tomorrow and owe him nothing.
