We're in the overpaying QB market.

WE've invested in RB, QB, and WR... We're going to have to take some shortcuts somewhere.

I'd rather have David Irving out there then the next Nick Hayden or Trysten Hill.

Give me Quinn, Dlaw, and a motivated David Irving and we are working with something...

Prescott is the face of the franchise.. When you have a guy like Prescott or Aikman you can hide some idiots on the team.. Only fans like us will care about the teams defensive tackle and his personal decisions off the field.

I agree with everything you guys say about Irving.. He is a grade A knucklehead.. I just say let him play.
"motivated" being the key word. what is going to motivate someone who quit the league to smoke weed?

I disagree.. He’s too talented.. If he wants to play he’s a huge addition to the team.

that's just it., ... he doesn't want to play football for the love of football... he's playing it for that patented Tuesday checks only, and he'll play in cruise control and only according to
however he feels like it. the practice absences, if he'll play hurt, if he will play hard, if he will come in shape, the up and down disappearing acts on the playing field.
the coaches know,. .trainers know.. players and teammates know,,

Sure Irving is rangy, lengthy, agile, quick off the ball and when he's motivated enough, can create some interior pressure.you don't want to have to baby sit a guy that doesn't love football.
a guy whose been a career questionable effort and drive, that doesn't have the dog in him to be best at his position, he'll cruise and flash just enuff' ..do just barely to just enuff' to get by.

I'd much rather trust in McClay's search around again for another with Irving's kind of tools and talent, and very hopefully without his kind of questionable drive, passion for football.

Now once reinstated. Does Gregory and Irving automatically becomes free agents or do they go back to being under contract with cowboys?

I think most of these guys don’t play for the love of football.. Especially 300 pound guys that crash into each other over and over.

I doubt he is getting a big guaranteed contract.. If he’s a shell of himself and disinterested then cut him.

isn't that how he left the team? pretty much a shell of that green bay game and disinterested?

you think a year off to smoke weed and ***** kept him in shape?

You guys act like as if enjoying a weed habit is akin to becoming a full blown meth addict.

Yet I'm sure there are many very successful NFL players that get completely hammered on booze a couple times a week, even during the season.

If he wants to come back on a cheap contract, IMO he should be allowed a chance to prove he wants to play.
no need to act as nothing, its already for the world to see..DI chose weed over millions of dollars playing a kids sport.

when any person chooses any drug over employments especially million dollar job, theres an issue, it is an addiction you seem to be the one with limited perspective ,

those who cant stop smoking are nicotine addicts
those that cant stop eating are addicts to food and are obese have health issues etc
those that cant stop drinking alcohol even though its destroying their lives are addicts

too many other examples but you get the point...

so when a player regardless of their situation chooses to use a subtance of any kind over a career, job, or in these cases making milliions, they are addicts..you simply have the wrong definition iof an addict..

regardless if they feel its choice, it is not , they cant stop and they are fooling themselves saying otherwise, its becomes a habit, they are choosing this over a normal lifestyle, thats an addict..to add to it this bone head has said he wont stop no mater what and doesnt care and bashes anyone who questions him, says the NFL is horrible and doesnt needed it, well Pookie is begging back in to the MANs world lol

we've been through his distractions and disinterest before, ..and it should be stretched to it's limit. Time to move on.
Its time to seek out others and better invest our time in someone who loves football, imo.

Gregory is still listed on the Cowboys team roster, David Irving is not.

Gregory is under contract. The Cowboys own his rights.
Irving is not under contract. He is a FA.

it is when you sit cause you turned down a million dollar career to smoke weed.

sorry, got no feeling he will EVER decide the game and his career means more than smoking pot.

If he stopped lifting and eating like a 290lb athlete needs to eat then it could be a big deal.

One thing when a guy tears his ACL, misses the year but still is with the team.

Irving went off the NFL grid, so I guess we'll see if he was still busting his *** in the gym and still in shape.

I think since they released him they do not have his rights anymore, he is a FA. He will sign elsewhere most likely.
I don't think it was he was just suspended as Gregory where he is still under contract.
I am not 100% sure on this though.
What did you not understand about, "the Cowboys washed their hands of him"? They released him, do not own his rights, do not want his rights or anything to do with this guy. Why are you questioning this?

Gregory is a different guy, different case, different treatment by the team.
