When building a roster: WWBBD

Reavis had been getting 16 mil/season, and got 12 from NE. How is that not under market?

He got cut from TB because they DIDNT want to pay him 16m per year. We are 5 years out from that and for perspective 16m per season would be the highest CB contract in the NFL (Howard has the highest at JUST over 15m cap hit). He was cut from a deal with 0 guaranteed dollars and managed to get a deal with guaranteed dollars. For a NE contract that is pretty insane (NE gets people to take a discount because they could sell you a real SB shot which contenders get all the time). I think all the way up until KC every single contract he signed made him the highest paid player at his position so how can any of them be below market value when he is the market?

Here's some answers about your list. Yes the patriots have signed some troubled receivers but to only one or two year contracts because belicheat has a zero tolerance for any trouble. Brown after just a single game and more off the field issues came up and he was cut. Gordon after finally getting reinstated he played and eventually got injured and was placed on IR. While on IR he made some statements about how things are handled and belicheat released him as injured. Bryant is a over the hill, 31 year old with an achilles injury history, who was never considered a fast receiver who has to be even slower today and has the distinction of leading the league in drops and you think belicheat would give him a chance? Any team can sign Bryant who isn't under contract with any team today if they wanted him but nobody has, including belicheat.

Next your RB statement is probably why the patriots have never had the league leader in rushing. One last thing list all of the players belicheat let go who the season before led the patriots in any category? Quinn led the Cowboys in sacks and is only 29 and in the prime of his career. Belicheat has a history of letting players go a year earlier rather than a year to late.

Chandler Jones must have been leading sacks when he left and I imagine Jamie Collins was leading tackles. Malcom Butler must have been leading something (maybe pass break ups). There must be a fair few leading rushers he’s let go too.

Didn’t say anything about Dak being outside top 12 but a complete idiot would think Dak deserves top pay
Sounds like you don’t understand how markets work. I suggest an Intro to Economics course at your local junior college.

I’m smart enough to not pay U.S. Prime market prices for U.S.Select product

What about Dez is a cancer that people do not get?
I think a lot of crazy thinking among a few in our fan base originates in the owners box. In his own words he’s made clear he’s more about sizzle than steak. When your owner/President/GM/Sock and Jock Director doesn’t get it, that sets the tone for far too many.

The Jones family are good people. And they know how to make money. But they don’t know how to keep an appropriate distance from the football stuff. They are the first problem our team has to overcome every season.

When you let the perfect be the enemy of the good you get stuck with the bad and end up waiting 6-7 years just to find the good again.

I dont see Dez as a cancer. Michael Irvin was more vocal on a winning team. Is it a cancer to have passion? Is it a cancer to get angry when the team is underperforming? Dez was vocal and passionate whether we were down by 3 or 30. This team frequently did not show enough "I give a dam" last season. It would actually help if we had a Dez on offense and defense

Key word in your description of Dez...”Was”....As in past tense. As in someone whose days as an NFL player are past.

No they don't. When a CB wants big money, he lets them walk.

You are funny. Re read my post. Their highest paid player right now is a CB. I just proved they do pay their CB's. Out of all their contracts gilmore a CB is paid the most. They have another 2 CB's in their top 11 guys paid on the entire team and #10 is a safety. Regardless of what you may think big money is whoever is the highest player on a team has their big money.

Uh...WAS only because someone named Garrett, wanted him gone... maybe he is done....training camp will tell....doesn't cost much to kick the tires. We have kept Witten 3 years past his expiration date, give Dez a chance.

I am. No, you didn't.

You could sign a high school chemistry teacher to play WR for the vet minimum, just like Dez. Both would have about the same worth except Dez is a cancer. So you would be better off signing the high school chemistry teacher at WR.

Say NO to Dez. Lol

Dez used to be called the heart and soul of the team. His last season he was a problem, though cancer is overplaying the problem.

Obviously his attitude toward his diminished role makes all the difference here. If he can't accept that, we shouldn't take him. If he can, a cheap Dez is a good signing with high upside who would be a postive for the team.

exactly but im sick and tired of hearing about the mistake Jerry made signing zeke before dak, Zeke was willing to meeting jerry with a team friendly deal ie long back loaded deal and well Daks the only player to date who wont.. he wants to play hardball and that's his deal not jerrys..

zekes not a 90mil back hes not making 15 per until around yr 4/5/.. dude hated on for no reason. flakey azz fans..

Of course Zeke doesn't care about a backloaded deal. RBs generally don't last that long at a high level. QBs do. This is his first and last big contract.

I think it was a mistake signing Zeke period. His play has already been declining. He's still very good. May still be when we finally cut him. But he won't be worth the contract.

I like Dez. He was great for about 8 years. Just my opinion but he represents what has plagued this organization for years- letting their loyalty to a player from the past count too much when building a roster. Again, just my opinion- this team needs some cold blooded evaluation of players for a change.

wrong backloaded means hes makes less the first half and all the big money is in the back half he may not earn.. so all the talk about the overpaying a RB is MOOT , his dal is team friendly, so a QB with a backloaded deal most likely sees ALL HIS money plus 2 more contracts. you need a lesson in math?

Daks being hard head and wont allow a team friendly deal like zeke did and I can tell you this without blinking. Dak at 35 or zeke under 15 ill take 3 zekes..sorry but Daks tier two and wanting elite money that will take up like 18% of the cap and zekes deal is not hard on the cap AT ALL..

Daks not signed because of this fact he wants it all in 4 years and anew deal after ..he wont help the boys have some cap left to make a Jones or Cooper deal maybe both easier to get done..

its an issue..

There is only one Belichick. Every GM in the league knows how he runs his team but they do not have the self-discipline to run their club as he runs his with no sacred cows. DAL has already made too many mistakes to even ask what he would do. Lawrence and Elliott, he wouldn't have done that, he let a DE walk that is on the same level as Lawrence and would never even consider paying a RB the highest salary and he values RB's more than DAL. He's better at picking them and utilizing them as well.

Expecting Booger to change his "players' buddy" position with the team is wishful thinking. That along with their evaluation of talent and position value is why they've been the team they've been. Booger fashions himself as a players' GM, he learned nothing from Schramm. Booger wants to be liked; Schramm didn't.

True- and Jerry has certainly achieved his goals of making a ton of money and being liked by his players. Winning a championship? Yeah it’s in there somewhere in his goals because he believes teams win a championship by getting lucky once in a while. He apparently does not respect what real GMs winning real Lombardis do to achieve that.
