For all of the clamoring over rebuilding the defense during the offseason with free agents and too draft picks, will that improve the games that the offense only scored 9-12 points? The defense did their jobs against the Pats and Saints, but the offense failed miserably against the better teams in the league. To be honest, the offense was terrible most of the time against teams with winning records. All of the impressive stats came against really bad teams. I am sure that some of you that has no problem with all of the games that the offense was horrible against opposing defenses and didn’t start playing until the second half. The defense was wore out after th offense made them stay on the field so much. Do any if you think that an upgraded defense is going to fix these problems?

Good stuff.
I will say that the special teams left the offense in the worst positions throughout the season so an improvement there should help.
Maybe a couple TO's (as in INT's) might help the efficacy of the offense also.
The offense did seem feeble at times, but they were never really put in consistently good situations.
Generally bad ones they had to dig out of.

I'm hoping this new coaching staff and renewed vigor into the D and Special Teams will help this offense be more efficient.

Hard not to agree with a lot of this. But some, not all but some, of the offensive issues was that the D and special teams were not good at the field position game. We had the worst, or damn close, steering field position in the league. It's tough to drive 75 yards against a good defense

I think we will be better schematically, having a game plan and not going into a contest with the single-minded stubbornest of "we do what we do" will be to the offenses advantage. Not saying defensive upgrades aren't needed but being predictable on offense negated any talent advantage we had until we would stubbornly make adjustments.

Here's my overlooked problem

The punter. The punter. The punter.

Been saying it for months. The punter is terrible. Chris Jones is paid like a top 15 guy but no matter how you spin his stats they always put him in the bottom of the league. His best year he was league average.

I will not leave this soapbox until this obvious upgrade is made, which means I'll be here for years because that's how this team works.

field position. If the D and ST’s can improve starting field position that should improve dramatically. Also McCarthy instead of Garrett I expect more aggression and creativity.

lastly, the patriots game was in abysmal conditions, and the saints game was decided on costly turnovers. Along with the fact that every team will have stinkers

The offensive consistency can improve.

If the pick in the draft came down to a catalyst WR, I take them.

McCarthy said it earlier, he expects big points from the O and a D that can deal with backlash.

My overlooked problem is the LB coach Bloom. The drop off in quality of play at that position was the worst I can remember.

I mean 2018 to 2019 was night and day. The LBs suuuuuccckkkkkked.

My biggest problem with those games was execution and coaching issues. Teams knew how to attack and defend us. Two coaches calling the defence and Garrett. Let’s move on to our new staff.

We are only really two deep at WR, in a league you need 3 starting caliber WR's. Even if we do bring Cobb back, and can and should improve on him. He wasnt very efficient last year, and should probably be a #4. A WR in on day 1 or 2 should definitely happen

Many fans don’t believe the offense was part of the problem but....

in our 8 losses we only averaged 15 points. In 3 of those losses didn’t score a TD. And didn’t overcome a 7 point or more deficit all season.

Now also in those 8 losses you forgot to mention that the defensive play constantly gave the offense the ball 70,75,80,90 yards away from a TD. There are very few offenses that on a regular basis drive 70,75,80,90 yards for TD's. Between the defense and special teams giving the offense such terrible field position and then make it sound like those 8 losses were all because of the offense. That's like saying it's 12 noon so it's sunny even though there are overcast days.
