I’m looking through the discussion and some of you really want the money added from Daks previous 4 years for exceeding his contract to be added to the current contract?
When any of you has been up for promotion, do you really ask them, “hey, I was your best guy the past 4 years so I want to be compensated for those years on top of my promotion or what I’m making on my next.” If that would be the case, every player with a new contract that has over exceeded would be the highest paid at their position. That’s bad business.
That’s just not how life works. We work hard through our lives and I’ve never heard of being compensated for my time in high school and college. “Hey I was top of my class in college”, you’re hired but even then you don’t get compensated (money) for the hard work you put before that. If you’re lucky you get a job that sees what you do and gives you bonuses for exceeding.
You do the work, you get a job at a great place, do great there and get promotions. Each time starting with better pay. Your hard work is what gets you noticed to get to the position you’re at.
I don’t care that Dak got paid peanuts his first 4 years. He has gained a lot as a 4th rounder. So whatever he’s getting 33-35/year is fine. Not 33-35 + 6/year for previously exceeding. Like what!? Lol
