He is a CLEAR upgrade over Collins... Maliek maybe younger, but he is quite simply an inferior player. McCoy is better against the run, better against the pass, is more durable, and is more consistent down to down.

We add a very solid piece to the DL, and we can certainly add more pieces as well— but this is NOT a lateral move/swap... McCoy is a clear upgrade from Collins.
^^THIS^^ even if only for a short time..this works. Gives us flex to draft a guy and develop them.

yup, buys us time. In the meantime he gives us experience and quality depth. Now what if we also bring back Michael Bennett? That would likely mean we dump Crawford next and then go ahead and draft another DT
Well Bennett is wanting to go to seahags again and finish his career. I think we draft and grab maybe another in FA. Crawford will take a pay cut. We will need a CB and now a Safety. I see a Defensive draft coming up. Dak needs to sign his tag and move on. We got Coop. Wondering if we bring Dez back for the slot.

I made note of the knee jerk reactions yesterday, I didn’t claim to know what those exact people were saying on the same topic a year a go.

You made inaccurate, ignorant, sweeping generalizations. And sound like a sanctimonious jerk. Great job.

if a poster is going to jump to conclusions on here and ignore that the facts aren’t in, he has to live up to it when the facts do come in.

While you can ignore when fans had it right a year ago and the team is just catching up now. I guess they weren't 'knee jerk' then after all, were they?

Your one way street on full display once again.

But you seem to be able to be "100% accurate" about 'everybody being kneejerk'?

The definition of hypocrisy.
The difference is I have facts. It has been proven that the determination yesterday that the Cowboys weren’t going to sign any significant free agents was knee jerk. What I said doesn’t require me to pretend I remember something those same people said a year ago. It just requires knowing the Cowboys are signing McCoy.

I hope you’re including yourself in this post. Because a “I told you so” after signing a 32 year old DT definitely falls into dumb knee jerk reaction territory

Never. That street goes just one way. Only fans can be wrong, never the team. Fans wanted him signed last year and were told how the team didn't need him then. But now that he is signed, it's another brilliant move. Some fans feel required to be sheep.

What 'facts'? Some generalizations about what 'some person' might have said? Sorry, that's not 'facts', that's sweeping generalizations. If some person said something? Go take it up with him or her. Save your sanctimonious generalization nonsense.

No, apparently, it requires you to pretend 'everybody' did things they didn't. To make untrue generalizations in a pathetic effort to feel superior.

Sweeping generalizations? I referred to people who determined yesterday that the fact the Cowboys had signed anyone meant they weren’t going to sign anyone. A specific group who said specific things is not a “sweeping generalization”.

As for a year ago, I never said fans were wrong for wanting McCoy then, so that argument makes no sense. In fact, I completely agree that’s if somebody talked down McCoy a year ago and is saying the opposite now they are being two faced. That just doesn’t have anything to do with what I wrote.

McCoy- Hurry= 10, QB Kockdown= 6, Sack= 5.0, Pressure= 22

Collins- Hurry= 12, QB Knockdown= 5, Sack= 4, Pressure = 21

Doesn’t really seem like a CLEAR upgrade in pass rush to me. But let’s not let facts get in the way...

Oh and McCoy played with Dontari Poe and Kawaan Short. Collins played with Woods and Christian Covington

Was hoping for someone big monsterous and fresh. Gerald reached his peak a few back when it comes to sacks. We do have big and monsterous in Gerald and also experience too. I just hop he can stay healthy.

Wait! How can this be? From what people were posting I thought the Cowboys weren’t allowed or able to sign any quality free agents if they didn’t do it within the first 24 hours after free agency started. We were told that not doing so meant the Cowboys weren’t planning to sIgn anyone! It's troubling to find that many of my fellow Cowboy fans on thIs sight can't be trusted to have accurate knee jerk reactions

Check yourself before handing out lectures to "many of your fellow Cowboys fans".

No, I'm sure you followed your pattern of applauding whatever decision the Cowboys decided to make.

Are you seriously trying to say that McCoy isn't an improvement over Maliek Collins? Seriously?

I fear that he isn't the player we remember. Not saying its a bad signing just that i hope they also sign someone of significance who is a little younger.

He may not be at his peak, but he was so good at his peak that even if he has lost a half step or so he will still be very good, and much better than we had.

And the man's character and work ethic are through the roof. If we were going to 'take a chance' on an older player, there are few, if any, safer bets than McCoy.
