How is Crawford still on the roster?

Which "coaches" would they be? The ones who all got fired?

"Try hard"? Try hard? Now we're giving out participation trophies?

Sorry, but anyone that looks at the return on investment and Crawford's on-field play vs his off-field pay can easily see that "logic" has nothing to do with this.

I've been right for years while the team has been and continues to be wrong.

I would assume it's every defensive coach we've brought in considering we didn't cut him last year under Marinelli and we haven't made a move in that direction under Nolan ... although there's still time.

Work ethic is important.

Just because it doesn't line up with your logic does not mean logic isn't involved unless you think teams just make decisions based on emotion. The Cowboys cut ties with one of their greatest defensive players of all time (DeMarcus Ware), so if they saw no value in Crawford, there's no reason to doubt they wouldn't cut ties with him.

Wow, I didn't see this thread coming.

Everyone in North America has known for a year that Crawford won't be at his current salary for 2020. The question is whether its a cut or a lower salary through negotiation. But there is no reason to spend time on a slam dunk issue while you are still negotiating with outside free agents. The most likely scenario is a pay cut and that takes longer than just converting salary to a signing bonus (with takes about ten minutes). Crawford's salary will be dealt with months before the money is needed.

Money is needed today. In case you missed it, free agency now has started. Now's the time, not "whenever we get to it". Other teams have already cut dead weight, why does this one wait? No benefit to it whatsoever, only negative.

Then "slam" that "dunk"! Show they have a brain by making this apparent "no brain" decision.

@stasheroo It is about timing. Do you think he is going to get anywhere near a practice without a pay cut? He will either retire or take a substantial pay cut. The Cowboys don't have to do it now. They can wait.

To suck at more than one position? Great...

Good backup to have but he's been way overpaid for years. He never seems to play the position they imagine and always dealing with sore shoulders by years end have hampered his productivity. but that's who the front office likes for whatever reason.

But no advantages in waiting. The market is open today, and the smart teams have already cut their dead weight and bad contracts. That's how business is rightfully done.

Work ethic is important.
You cut guys that don't have it, you don't praise them if they do. That's why it's called "professional football".

Just because it doesn't line up with your logic does not mean logic isn't involved unless you think teams just make decisions based on emotion.

They are here, because no statistical evidence justifies the cost vs return.

The Cowboys cut ties with one of their greatest defensive players of all time (DeMarcus Ware), so if they saw no value in Crawford, there's no reason to doubt they wouldn't cut ties with him.

They cut Ware because they were stuck against the cap and had no choice. The exact opposite of what's going on now. Apples to oranges by a wide margin.

They have 25 Million in cap space today, more when Dak signs and more than 25 Million more if they want to do restructures.

Who is signing today that needs more than that? Any 30 Million dollar a year CBs out there that I missed?

I'll ask you since you're head cheerleader around here.

Why would they keep this contract?

Why shouldn't they have cut him already?

When the rest of the league has already cut their own dead weight and bad contracts, what are your brilliant Cowboys gaining by keeping their terrible contract?

This should be good!

Don't feel sorry for me. Fell sorry for your favorite team.

I take it you loved the return on that $10 million last year and want more?

Honestly, I don't have feelings one way or another. I'll trust MM on this one........but I AM surprised we haven't heard anything about a pay cut. Maybe that's still coming....

because he might be their starting RDE if they don't get one in FA.

Really? Are you looking forward to going from Quinn's 11.5 sacks in 2019 back to Crawford's 0 sacks at RDE?

You'd be better off playing with 10 guys and be done with it.

Read post #8 of this thread. Then get over your weird tantrum obsession with Crawford, everyone on Earth knows he is overpaid.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news. But as of right now, Crawford is the starter at RDE. until they hopefully sign an alternative.

I don’t like it. But that’s how the Jones boys operate.

Other than last year, Crawford started all but two of the games he played, whether it was at right end, left end or defensive tackle. Like it or not, some coaches see value in that. He has had at least four sacks in four consecutive seasons prior to his injury. He gets pressures and he plays whatever role is asked of him.

I know you are blinded by how you feel about the player, but you need to ask yourself why the coaches/staff who work with him don't seem to feel the same way.

None of which answers my questions. Try again. Do better. Have better excuses ready.
