Not when you then have to pay a 29-year Old corner at the very top of the market they didn't. They gave up their 3rd and 5th round picks to then pay Slay more than Byron Jones contract.
bingo, its a huge overreach move. Iggles weakened themselves. Look at that secondary and the oline and tell me they are better? They look like swiss cheese.

The contract is not what I was looking at. That is Eagles business and stupidity. I am more looking at the trade between the teams. The Lions should have gotten more imo.

Slay has been injured 3 of the last 4 seasons. He is a good CB, and will help the Eagles defense. But I still think their DL is what makes that defense strong. They have Fletcher Cox and Javon Hargrave i the middle now. They never let that DL get soft.
AGREE. the dline looks beastly. Behind that however, they got major issues to still deal with. Its just march tho...much can change between now and the draft.

we already got his replacement last year, who played as well as him when he was in (38 by the way, not that huge of a loss)
forgot his name..is it dillard? Yeah...he didn't look great...If that's the guy you all are putting your faith in to protect Carsons back side, oh boy lol..you all might wanna explore your options at left tackle.

Was enough to beat you guys, so that’s a start. If you recall, Jason was on IR when we won the super bowl. We haven’t had legit Jason Peters since 2016.

He's not your typical 38 year old. The guy can still be dominant. I am a huge fan of the player. He's a throw back to the 90's cowboys teams. Reminds me of larry allen a lot. Allen left in free agency for San Fran and played at a pro bowl level for I think, 3 years. This cat will too. That's a loss for you guys but I see why you had to do it.

Sorry but you can't cherry pick just part of the equation. That cost of extending Slay is exactly why the Lions couldn't get anything more.

Larry Allen didn’t make a pro bowl after 35, golfing during football season by 36. And Peters has been injured for 3 years straight, not a just comparison.

Larry Allen was retired by 36, and Peters probably should have been as well, but someone will pay him so that’s something I guess.

We beat him when he was on the field plenty my friend. The point is, you guys better hope you filled the hole he left with the correct player. Left tackle is kinda a big deal.

well, we shall see how all this plays out...I am sure Allen made a pro bowl after he left Dallas for San Fran. I get it..Peters has been hurt a lot...but I wish u well with Dillard.

Such is the life of a Cowboy fan. How many years have we sat and watched other teams improve thru FA while Jerry parks his Humvee on his wallet? Can't wait for his annual speech of, "we're waiting for everyone to overspend on the top tier players"... This way we can swoop in and sign low impact players who probably will be cut during training camp...
While I get where your coming from, I will admit easily this year, that I like what has transpired so far , so early.
Market and value spending, but for quality product, nothing wrong with investing in your own players first, and there are still quality FAs available.

We have the best center in football, best right guard in football, and I agree with you Lane is still our best Olineman. If Dillard ends up good enough to make pro bowls he’s still vying for 4th best Olineman.

that’s not ‘garbage’

Are you claiming the cowboys don’t spend as much as other teams?

that’s untrue

If you’re arguing about *how* they spend, then everyone has an opinion. I’m sure there are Philly fans who say the same kind of stuff

We had three of the top free agents in all of football and retained two of them. Both were the number one at their position and demanded and received huge money.

people, such as yourself, tend to discount and ignore that fact. Those count. You don’t get to just sign all your free agents for free and ignore the salary cap.

Don’t say we aren’t active because that’s simply untrue
