Why would Dallas bother drafting a WR that high when they already have Cooper and Gallup?

Unless you NEED a #1 WR type, this is not the draft to be taking one high. plenty of good talent in the pool.
If you are in the position to get the best WR you take him regardless of how deep the WR class is

I think it’s a waste of resources. It’s like when Calvin Ridley was available and we took LVE and got Gallup later on. Don’t pass up defensive line for a position we are good at. Too many resources used on receiver at that point unless you want to let Gallup to.

I'm not as concerned with the accuracy of our QB. I'm more concerned with how long it takes the "ooh I got an open receiver" signal to get from his eyes, to his brain, and then to his arm.
Same with "the pocket is collapsing it's time to run" signal.

Improving your team with elite talent is never a waste of resources.
That mentality gets you Taco Carlton over TJ Watt

We've seen what Deshawn Jackson has done to the Cowboys defense for years.
I want that same kind of weapon.

No what got you Taco over TJ was they didn’t think he was a fit. They also didn’t listen to their scouts.

You have the 17th pick and you go and use it on what? Someone who wil receive touches after Zeke, Gallup, Pollard and Cooper? It’s foolish. I’m not against going receiver if there is no defensive linemen there. But the offense is set. Investing another first rounder in a unit there already good is foolish.

No offense but this is a proper post for 3 years ago.

DAL focused mightily on adding speed to it's team overall in the past 2 years but especially on offense.
Amari is very fast at 4.42
Gallup is fast at 4.45
The depth guys are largely 4.4 or 4.5 guys.
Jon'Vea Johnson at 4.40
Devin Smith at 4.42

DAL needs to add a 3rd WR with great hands.
Getting open isn't an issue.
Big plays aren't an issue.

Dropping the ball was an issue.
They need hands not speed.

They had speed in Tavon Austin and it was mostly useless.

I'm all for coming away from this draft with a WR, but 40 times especially at that position may be one of the most overrated measures of a players ability in sports.
It definitely is. 40 times in general are overrated. It doesn’t mean anything. And while you’d think it would mean something at running back or wide receiver? It doesn’t.

Jamies is the guy y’all cling to now I see lol. I don’t get why you even come on this site? To see how people feel about the Cowboys? You offer no insight on even the Eagles. I don’t get it?

I don't know how fast he'll be, but I'm expecting Dallas to nab a WR pretty early in the draft. Taking one in the first seems rich after signing Cooper to his contract, but it could be the best thing on the board. But likely, I see Dallas grabbing a WR in the 2nd-4th rounds.

I think Dallas was ready to go with Cobb in the slot this year, but I certainly don't blame them for not matching Houston's contract. Not one bit.

You mean disappear completely and miss a lot of games?

He's had 1 or 2 big games versus DAL and a bunch of nothing or missed games with a losing record.
Basically. And I think in this offense a speedster would be great but I don’t think you’d feel the impact that most are thinking.

Given this draft it is almost a certainty they select one in the top 4 rounds.
Round 3 seems a perfect area and I'd much rather see an all-around WR than a "speed" guy.
A speed guy with all the tools will go very early.
DAL is more likely to look at guys like Michael Pittman Jr. who is 6'4" and 223.
Those guys seem plentiful and size has been the trend at WR in college.

More Dez less DeSean Jackson.

They are replacing the slowest skill guy on offense by moving on from Witten.
They are also replacing a 29 year old WR with a likely rookie.

Speed isn't an issue.

you said 5000 yard and 30tds means the WB is accurate. Jameis three for 60.7% accuracy last year despite meeting those milestones. 30 years ago that’s be a decent %, today that’s substandard

stat accumulation just means the guy threw a lot, not necessarily indicative of his accuracy

If we can afford him (I don't think we could justify even more money to the offense) I would go get Brandin Cooks. More expensive than Cobb but he would add so much to the offense. Cooper, Cooks, Gallop and Jarwin. Nice.
