Its not about NOT affording Jones. Its a conscious decision that he simply wasn't worth the money he was asking.
Which was the right decision.
Only time will tell. Hopefully awuzie takes the next step.

Yes, but some don't understand that. They think that Dallas just couldn't afford to pay everyone, which is easy to see was not and has not been true. Cap manipulation is an art form that the Joneses finally learned to master while a lot of fans still are having PTSD from when they didn't know what they were doing and we really were in cap hell.

These numbers are inaccurate and are likely due to several signings being delayed in becoming “official”. The Cowboys actually have just under $22 million in cap space.
Isn’t Crawford taking a pay cut? Might actually be accurate

Nope, not as of yet at least. And these numbers are not accurate. "Official" offseason numbers are always delayed due to needing physicals, etc before becoming official. This is even more so the case this year.

Actually you are right. First reported he was open to it, then reported they said something along the lines of he doesn’t need to.

Trade for Jamal Adams
This may be the logical thing to do with the 17th pick because there is speculation that CJ Henderson, Kinlaw, Brown, Lamb, Ruggs III will probably be drafted before we make our selection. If you can get arguably the best safety in football & you are prepared to pay him accordingly (this is the last year of his rookie deal), you gotta go all in and make the trade.

If I told you a month ago that we acquired Jamal Adams, HaHa Clinton Dix, Dontari Poe, Gerald McCoy, Greg the Leg, with LVE and Randy Gregory returning this offseason - would you consider that a success heading into the draft (with picks in the 2nd-7th rounds)?

I just don’t know if they want to pay Adams what he’ll be asking for (the most ever for a safety- I’m assuming)

They also have the ability to cut Crawford and free up another $8 million EZ.

Exactly. If we wanted to, we could enter the Clowney sweepstakes. And we certainly could bring in a Griffen or a Golden on a short term deal.

Exactly. Plus Frederick comes off the books next year entirely. That changes the modeling for cap space that they gave been operating under, or at least it
Should. They now have one all pro level player with an all pro level contract coming off the books. They need to use that money replace the spot with another high end player going forward.
