This guy was picked in the 3rd round.
Go find the next him in this draft instead of pretending you're a player away.
Yep.Exactly. We are done looking for starters in FA until we see what the draft brings.
I am a proponent of the draft in providing cheap labor of course. Chiasson is an intriguing prospect. Iirc pass rushers have high bust rates and he is anything but a sure thing. Unfortunately there aren't many sure things in this draft, any sure thing that reaches 17 isn't likely to be a position of great need. We need to be open minded on how to upgrade the talent. Right now the defense is stop gaps and question marks as far as the eye can see.Definitely the pass rusher. But we did manage to get one to get us 11.5 sacks last year, right? And for what? A 6th round pick? No 'one size fits all' formula in my book.
And I would ask, do you think that you can draft Chaisson at #17 and he could provide you with that dynamic pass rush you're looking for?
If so, you keep your other picks, and have a cheap contract for four years rather than paying top of the market from day one, right?
we dont have the cap room-he's looking for 22 a yearHe's 25 and had at least 8 sacks all 4 years of his career. People just want entertainment in the draft. The Cowboys would be lucky to find this kind of pass rusher at 17. I'd do it in a second.
Yep.
It's also not just a first for him...its a first PLUS not being able to pay someone else when their time is up.
Its theoretically two starters for one.
Is this the missing piece to a title? If so then sure.
It isnt.

You have to be good with paying a good pass rusher who should be in the 8 to 10 sack per year average and is just coming into his prime. I agree with risen's take that you give him Fred's money. I dont trust Gregory at all. Even when available he has had injuries. What's your plan for paying this guy top of the market money while you're already doing that with Lawrence? This guy will want Khalil Mack money. Are you good with that?

Well he says that but then gave Darius Slay big money and traded draft picks for him. He didn't trade for Hopkins because I don't believe he had a chance to. No way you don't give Wentz that for that compensation. They (Howie Roseman) also said they feel like their team is super top-heavy roster and cap-wise and they don’t wanna keep going in that direction. They want to hold on to their assets and build depth and youth, while not setting an example for big contracts for outside guys.
These reasons are why they didn’t pursue Hopkins after the initial conversation with Houston.
Yeah this guy is not gonna get Fred's money. Gonna be much more than that. This shows people not thinking things through. "Fred's money" is half of what you would have to pay this guy.
I don't blame you there.
The slay move binds them even more. People think since they made the postseason that they were a good team, truth is they were 5-7 then beat the Giants twice, skins, and us. The eagles are old and need depth. They have too many holes to fill via the draft, so one trade like that would make sense, especially because it didn’t cost a 1st like Yannick will and Hopkins should have.Well he says that but then gave Darius Slay big money and traded draft picks for him. Unless the Jags panic, the price will be steep. But don't assume Philly won't make a move for him. They have shown to be aggressive in the past. And adding Ngakoue to that DL would be ridiculous.
The cap implications are interesting as well given how much they have invested in the DL.

Ah, the path to success. Trading away cheap 5 year contracts for players asking for top market deals. That appears to be working out great for the Rams.
