Overrated for that contract for sure. But still better than Prescott.

Can you imagine Dak against New England, Baltimore, and trying to win a shootout against Mahomes?

Yeesh. 0-3 the ugly way.
how is he better than Prescott when he has never done anything Prescott has done outside of riding somebody else's back to couple of playoff wins?...

yes, I can imagine Dak in those type of situations. with the right coach, right scheme....I am not saying he is mahomes...I don't like Jackson and don't think he will last and hits/injuries will catch up with him....

and are you saying Tannehill can win in a shoot out?

And I think you'd be amazed at how many would take Tannehill.

Dak is NOT highly regarded across the league by players, coaches, or GMs. Teams actually gameplan to put the game in Dak's hands.
wow, how many of these players/coaches/gms have you talked to...you must work in an NFL front office somewhere and we are so honored to have you on this board mascarading as a cowboys fan

No, Mickey, I will not. Not even if you remove your nose from Jerry's colon.
You might make a quarter of a point if I was actually a fan of Jerry.

Failed.

Tannehill wasn't even a bus driver in the playoffs. He was riding in the luggage compartment and got that contract?

So in order to spend $5,000 a day for the next 50 years, you need $91.3 million. I get to "make it while you can", but how much is enough?

I know, right?

People complain about Dak being carried by Zeke... and Tannehill throws for 72 and 88 yards in his 2 playoff wins... and you have people here wanting to crown Tannehill?

Meanwhile Henry rushed for 182 and 195 yards on 30+ carries a game.

The second Tannehill had to throw more than 15 times the Titans ate it.

LOL OK

Seriously, I'm not even sold on Dak being the Next Big Thing, but some of you are just deranged. The second Tannehill had to be more than a spectator his team died instantly. Hell, even Trent Dilfer had to throw for over 100 yards for his Ravens to win.

Here's what wrong with your idea that being the Cowboys QB gets you more endorsement money. It may in Dallas but I don't live in the metroplex now and I only see Prescott in one commercial that airs nation wide. Just like Prescott might be in a lot of commercials that air in the Dallas or Texas area, others like Wentz are probably in a lot of commercials that air just in the Philly area that Dallas fans don't see. I will admit that I haven't see Wentz in any national commercials though. The commercials or endorsements that pay the really big bucks are the ones that air nationally.
.
I live in Virginia and I’ve seen Dak on several national commercials - more than all other active QBs in the nfl combined.

A holdout by Henry or an injury to Henry, and watch how fast the Titans regret that Tannehill deal? I don't know who the Titans were bidding against. I doubt any team was offering anything close.

Same with Dak. I don't think there is any team out there offering $30M plus for any QB on the FA market this year. Those four QBs Burrow, Tua, Herbert, and Love will go off the board pretty quickly. Teams can save a boatload of money going young. If the economy does not pick up, I can see some teams being very economical when it comes to QB salaries.

This is such a interesting contract and I can actually see why Dak is a bit upset. I read the article this morning and actually last week I heard Ryen Russilo do a breakdown of the contract. He did not talk Dak at all.
So Tannehill got a 20 million dollar signing bonus, which he will get paid up front.
First year salary of 17 million + the bonus makes a total of 37 million in his first year.
The second year he has a salary of 24 million. Then there is a beautiful clause which states if he is on the roster on the 5th league day of 2021, (which is next year) his 2022 salary of 29 million becomes fully guaranteed.
If you guys are following me on this Tannehill basically got 91 million guaranteed for three years plus an out clause. I was blown away.
There is no way in hell that Tannehill is not on the roster on the 5th league day next year... The league year for 2020 started March 18th.

What an amazing deal for a guy who was the dictionary definition of a bus driver. Again I am not a Dak lover, supporter or anything like that, but he is too stupid to sign a deal or the Cowboys just really really don't want to sign him. Wow
It’s still Ryan with a partial good year. Lol

I see one Prescott, like 5 or 6 for Brady, at least 5 for Brees and Mahomes.

Why are people acting like Tannehill didn't make some beautiful throws in the playoffs? Limited attempts or not, he made key throws and put up points. But either way, that was a 3 game stretch, Tannehill played well from the moment he got the job.

$33M? Don't think so. Even if you think Dak is equal to Goff and Wentz who got $34M, we're now close to 1 year beyond those deals which, if you consider your inflation example which is valid on these deals, puts Dak at least at $35M. If you think Dak is better than those QBs, you go beyond even that, which I think will happen.

Goff average is 33.5m according to Spotrac....and he was a high number one pick AND took his team to the Super Bowl. Wentz was a high first round pick and is still considered better by many and is at 32m average on a deal less than a year old. So 33-34m is very reasonable. A lot of people don't think he is worth anywhere near that....so he can get stuck with the franchise tag of less than 29m...or he can get 2-3 years of guaranteed money at 33-34m a year. Guaranteed beats maybe all day.

Then consider this.....he could have had a deal done last year and maybe got an average similar to Wentz instead of the 2m he got paid last year. Do you think he is going to make up that 30m difference? I don't.

Why is a poor contract justification for Prescott? I don't understand this mindset. You're not forced to give a contract like this, owners are individuals

BUT DUH MARKET! DUH MARKET SAYS!

F the market. You don't sign mediocrity to cap hurting contracts.
Dak’s a top-10 QB according to just about every metric, and just about every reasonable football analyst believes that as well.

I know it hurts. Your bottom lip’s quivering.
