The point is Pollard is a complementary back. There’s fans who want him to start based on one explosive play in a mop up role against the Rams. It resulted in a big thread. One long run and all of a sudden he’s better than Zeke. lol
that was my point as well.. :D

It was a thought by some of the scouts that Pollard would be moved to WR. Dude can catch, he should be getting 80 catches/season.

I'm thinking he'll get a ton more w/ McC.
IMO, he should be Dallas' James White. They should use two back sets often and motion Pollard out to the slot frequently, as well.
With the threat of Zeke and the explosiveness of Pollard, the offense could be deadly efficient, and these guys should be third down nightmares.

This, remember years ago when we had someone else that did GREAT in closing time to seal the deal and everyone said he should be a starter and BAM he was, we saw how that went. There is a reason a relief pitcher is not a starting pitcher.
which one Randall? Barber? both Jonses?

all of them should have stayed RBBC type backs..its what separated Backs like Zeke and others, he doesn't need to be subbed for much...I like Pollard and if he can be the next Kamara or Kareem Hunt..

Love for the backup.

Doesn't help that Zeke has shown a bunch of knuckleheaded tendencies.

It’s happened twice with Troy Hambrick and Marion Barber. Both were great when you picked your spots with them and as closers but weren’t consistent starters. Felix Jones was similar. He was great when we picked our spots with him. The fewer the carries the better all those backs were. Troy Hambrick used to break one long run after another subbing for Emmitt convincing the fans and Jerry he should be the starter. It was the same with Barber. He went from the barbarian to flaming out once he became the starter. All three were very good complementary backs who flamed out as starters.

thats was a mistake by Jerry paying Barber and Jones as starters and elevating both, big mistake for sure m, it shortened their careers..

I remember the great Burst that Julius Jones had looked like our next great back until he took some hard hits and few injuries', and when used in tight formation between the tackles starting becoming hesitant.. Didnt parcels call him scared or something that he was running scared to hit the hole?

Julius Jones ran into a fumbling problem and it affected the way he ran the ball. Parcells jumped all over him and Jones started running the ball with both hands on it trying to protect it. He started looking like a fullback running the ball. He lost his wiggle and elusiveness. He looked like he was going to be a terrific back early on but flamed out. He had a great game against Seattle rushing for around 200 yards.

He sure did after the tuna called him out.

Dear fellow fanzone freaks--- one bright spot from 2019 is Tony Pollard

enjoy

It was really nice to hear MM recently talk about how good Pollard was when asked about Zeke. Made a point to say that he was going to be getting both of them the ball.

I cant remember the exact words but called him a coward or something Julius lashed back and said Bill was making him run like a robot.. JJ had more then one great game he had at least 5 over 150, looked great I mean his bursts reminded me a little of ricky waters..

LOL...……...that kid is amazing. He had more highlights in one limited season then Zeke has had in the last 3 years. Pollard is EVERYTHING that Zeke is not. The vision and quickness, moves and speed is incredible.

If the Cowboys had just called Zeke's bluff and let him hold out those first 3 games of last year, we may never have wasted 15 million. Might have an extra first round pick this year and another huge chunk of cap space.

Early on Jones had a cut move and wiggle as he darted through a hole and lost it after Parcells jumped on him about the fumbling. He ran robotic after that. He seemed more worried about hanging onto the ball than making a play. He had the makings of developing into a great runner his first couple of years. He looked special in the game against Seattle.

I wish they would sub him in more randomly instead of we're going to give Zeke this entire drive off and get Pollard in the game. Then he'll sit for the other 55 minutes of the game.

I'm just not sure what you are seeing that leads you to believe he's better than Zeke.

Speed, vision, quickness, moves, elusiveness, outside running ability. All those things are better than Zeke, and that isn't debatable. I would probably add passing game abilities as well, but that is just a hunch.

What can we say Zeke does better? Durability, blocking, strength? Short yardage maybe?
