I was in a forum mock on another site and I took the Cowboys. When I was on the clock the draft results looked like this. Who would you have taken and why?

1st Round
1. Cincinnati - QB Joe Burrow, LSU
2. Washington - DE Chase Young, Ohio St.
3. LA Chargers (from DET) - QB Tua Tagovailoa, Alabama
4. NY Giants - CB Jeff Okudah, Ohio St.
5. Miami - OT Jedrick Wills Jr, Alabama
6. Detroit (from LAC) - LB Isaiah Simmons, Clemson
7. Carolina - DT Derrick Brown, Auburn
8. Arizona - OT Tristan Wirfs, Iowa
9. Jacksonville - DT Javon Kinlaw, S. Carolina
10. Cleveland - OT Mekhi Becton, Louisville
11. NY Jets - OT Andrew Thomas, Georgia
12. Las Vegas - WR CeeDee Lamb, Oklahoma
13. San Francisco (from IND) - WR Henry Ruggs III, Alabama
14. Philadelphia (from TB) - WR Jerry Jeudy, Alabama
15. Denver - CB CJ Henderson, Florida
16. Atlanta - CB Kristian Fulton, LSU

Based on Boards im looking at, You have to take K'Lavon Chaisson... when we took DWare back in 2005 he was taken because of Traits and fact you could probably not get him later on... I think they go this route again, Corner is a bigger need IMO, but you have to take BPA and that is Chaisson.

Justin Herbert.

Franchise QBs on a rookie contract are the most valuable players in the NFL. I'm not sold on Herbert as a franchise QB, but if I'm saving $120M versus Dak by picking him either way, I think I'm taking that gamble.

I agree with your thoughts and almost took him, but it was hard to take him when push came to shove. Part of me really wants to see how far we can go next season "win now". Part of me also just wanted to take a guy that I think will be there in real life and I don't think Herbert will be there.

I'm a huge Chaisson fan, but I passed due to lack of production. One of the most translatable stats is sacks and it just wasn't there for me. A guy I'm hoping to get later is Baun. Might have to trade up though. We'll see.

Since the top 3 CB imo are off the board I suppose it would be Chaisson.

Your mock doesn’t have Miami taking a QB which throws a bunch of things off. There’s no way they don’t at least trade back if they think a QB will be there later

You also have Philly trading up when they don’t need to. They can likely get Justin Jefferson and not have to trade with TB

Chaisson only really played two years though, and he is only 20. The sacks will come. Production should always be taken into account, but Im a believer you draft a player based on what you believe he will do in the Pro's more than what he did in college. Chaisson fits that to me, as I see an ascending player

Chaisson, he had as many sacks and TFLs per game as Nick Bosa and twice as many tackles per game and the 49s picked him second overall.

In this situation, I would see who wants to give up their 1st and 2nd for Herbert. Maybe take a 1st and 3rd from LV or Jacksonville. If not take Chaisson.

I think this would be a great position for the Cowboys. At the very least, Chaisson is an excellent pick - likely BPA and at a position of need.

Alternatively, I could just as easily see JJ working the phones with a QB or OT needy team for a trade down.

Chaisson isn’t on the same continent as Ware.

Chaisson is a reach.

Chaisson isn’t on the same planet in relation to Bosa as a prospect. Bosa’s pass rush win rate was in the 20s almost every year at OSU and he also had double the amount of pressures of Chaison’s best season.

You need to dig a little deeper into the numbers.
