and have Dez taking up possible reps and time away from Mims... wow, does that make any sense ?

if you really believe Mims (or anyone else) is a " beast " then you commit to him, and give him every amount of chances
and touches to develop, you let him be the 3rd platoon, rather than reminiscence towards a social media locker room,
and in QB's ear detraction has-been that was already criticized for a lack of separation, burst and suspect route runner who didn't believe in mastering
footwork routes, and that was just before he was cut, and add that hes has been out of football for almost 2 years, while coming off an serious achilles injury (which very rare if any players return to previous form) ...and now some fans still want him back ? but yet fans still want a " beast" like Mims on the side as well? .. LOL
Mims would be a starter. Dez would not. What's so hard to figure that out? Dez is better than our backups, even now at Dez's age and been away from the NFL for 2 years. If you disagree, you're simply in denial.

I wonder if all these fans who suggest letting Michael Gallup go realize how much he has developed and will be entering his 3rd season this upcoming season.

Michael Gallup is 2 years younger than Amari Cooper, started 4 less games last season than Cooper and had only 2 TD catches and 82 reception yards less than Cooper, who had a Pro bowl season.

This is a very good young duo of WR's. Whoever the coaching staff wants to send over the middle for those dirty yards and catches, whether it be Dez, another vet signing, someone on our roster or a draft pick will conclude if it is a triple threat at WR.

But Cooper and Gallup can both score in the red zone and we all know Dez was one of the best there was in the red zone. If he's still half that guy and the team is going to add him would mean they feel he can also score down there and make some tough catches needed by our 3rd WR.
that's about as accurate as it gets.

I don't think we draft for slot. We draft a guy who can become a legit #2, as I don't expect us to pay Gallup. Can't pay everyone, and we almost have already. 2 years lets him grow into a starter. Also, Cooper has a weird contract, where we can legitimately let him go after 2, so maybe we keep Gallup and dump Cooper.

With a deep WR draft, a thin bench, and big decisions to be made in 2 years, now is the perfect time to pick up a quality WR.
Sure but not in the first round.

Yeah, I really don't see this cat as a slot guy. Since he "lacks ideal quickness" and the slot position is built on quickness, he appears to be more of a #3 guy who may at some point rise above that, though his lack of athleticism may keep him in the backup role.

slot guys are typically guys just too small to play outside. Bigger quality guys can do it as well.

I saw this over on Dallas Cowboys.com that we are interested in this guy.

As our new slot receiver and Redzone guy..

Looks good.

Redball, I'm not sure this coaching staff is exclusively looking for a slot WR. I think they are looking for the best receiver for them period.

If we got Mims and Dez along with Coop and Gallup, would not see any other receivers hitting the field unless an injury.

As long as they have the ability to get open quickly, hence the quickness requirement.

Normally, thrilled as a Coventry Dandy, blokes and harbor debris, I do say I've missed the slot star for quite a while.
Good lad, if a great slot/wr is in the 3rd round, DUH!! Take him!!
but
1. QB
2. Run stopper
3. Slot/wr
4. O line
5. O lineI

:)

...among several others interests no doubt.

one person's mock blog has us taking Notre Dame WR Chase Claypool,.. a 6'4, 240 lb WR with 4.4 speed as a huge red zone target guy and slot.
Yes, Claypool has been one of my late 1st rounder, maybe early 2nd WRs, he has been climbing draft boards, this is just such a deep WR draft that their will be some late round gems.
Shenault is the classic Cowboys good deal pics, he tore a core muscle after the combine, and he has been sliding down boards because of it, I remember pre combine Shenault was being mentioned top 5,, now he could very well slide to the 5th or beyond.

Meh. Supposedly Tyler Johnson has average speed (4.5+ 40 time). Probably why he refused to run the 40 at the combine.

I would rather have Dez for dirt cheap while drafting big and fast beast WR Denzel Mims.
Mims is on that list for sure, helped his draft stock considerably with that fast 4.38 combine 40.
Whats interesting about Mims is while he has received 1st round projections, there are teams that graded him on day 3.

An interesting mid round prospect to keep an eye on is Lynn Bowden the Kentucky WR, with similarities to Randall Cobb, great athlete that was
pressed into playing QB for the Wildcats. While Bowden only had 30 catches for 348 yds as a WR, as a running QB, he amassed a 7.9yd avg for 1,478 rushing, and 13 TDs in 2019.

Bowden sounds like un undrafted free agent project.

A good offensive coordinator might see the roster value in a guy like Bowden, I don't see him becoming an UDFA, but stranger things have happened.
He has value as a possible slot candidate, and could possibly be your backup QB, guy has some Lamar Jackson traits, that's not a bad thing.

Sounds interesting. I'll have to watch some tape on him.

I disagree we have gallup for 2-3 more years and we may pay him if he keeps ascending, think 3years from now AC MIGHT BE CUT OR NOT.. you cross that bridge 2-3 years from now, we need a true slow speed guy similar to Beasly on the cheap ie rookie deal..

other teams have multiple WRs under larger deal.. we will get a WR in round 3-4 that is a true slot guy..no team will just pad a postion when you have 2 starters already under deals for 2-3 more season..

plus if we end up needing another outside WR, that will be a round 1 draft and not happening this year, besides we got AC when we were desperate and that can happen most any year..

Just trying to understand what you mean by that?
