“Do the right thing.”

Please Jerry.. Please sign away your teams future because you have a decent QB and if you have a decent QB you have to give them whatever they want because it’s just way to risky to draft a rookie and hope they could be a good QB too.

Stick with the mediocre plan.

Why do all these media guys say the Cowboys are the ones who have to give?

King says both sides need to meet in the middle, but that can't happen when the player refuses to do so.

Because they know what the status quo thing to do is and eventually the Cowboys will give into that as well.

That is why we have the QB market we have today.. Because all these teams agreed that it’s the right thing to do to make their QB the highest paid player in the league if they aren’t completely terrible.

That is why we will pay Dak Prescott elite QB money and we won’t even have an elite QB.

They gave themselves no leverage in negotiations when they had the chance too but now they look like fools and everyone knows they are going to cave including Dak and his agent.

Dak wins and the Cowboys lose.

If you don’t think drafting a rookie QB is a risky move then you haven’t been following the draft.

When has a team EVER gotten better by getting rid of their young, top 10 QB?

There is no assurance that signing Dak he can continue to give the same numbers or can improve, there are many risks and money at stake. the risk is the same whether selecting a rookie player, or giving Dak the money he wants. a player who asks for more money without showing that he deserves it, is not a reliable player, just negotiate with Dak, transfer him and finish this novel. there are several options that can improve this team without having Dak.

The only side being unreasonable are the Cowboys. 4 year or less deals aren't some novelty in today's NFL. Literally every QB that signed a contract in the last 2 years at least got them.

Only the Cowboys feel entitled to continue to underpay the 77th highest paid QB over the last 4 years by locking into a 6 year deal. You want 6 years? Fine. Pay him 40 million per then.

every pick is a risk and keeping Dak is a high risk to prevent success (real success) in the immediate future.

There isn’t any risk to keeping Dak he’s a proven QB who’s gotten better every year. The highest risk to prevent real success in the immediate future is to move on from a proven player and draft a rookie QB. Rarely does a team have immediate success with a rookie QB. Good luck finding a rookie QB who’s had the kind of success Dak had his rookie season.

I think they will, too. I just wonder why they only blame the team side and not the player.

Not to get OT, but I wonder if Belichick isn't about to put this theory to the test and see if he can win with a cheap QB that isn't making a fortune.

Apparently Jerry doesn't agree that Dak is merely "mediocre". Besides, a lot of reports suggest it is the Cowboys that are asking Dak to accept what they want, being a longer term contract than has been typical for other QBs.

That's usually the middle. When deal gets done usually its the player and owners having to sacrifice a little.

Because I think the middle is then meeting Dak at 4 years. Who's to say maybe they want a shorter deal than that?
