Yup. Not sure I see the Cowboys passing him up.

In my opinion, this whole thing with the new defense is centered around one stand-up rush player. You're going to see at least one designated rusher standing up out there, and maybe more on designed blitz packages. An anti-Marinelli approach.

I think there will be rotations and waves of guys rushing the passer in Lawrence, Gregory, Smith, and Chaisson if they draft him. And the plan will be having an improved pass rush being enough to cover for a less than optimal secondary in transition behind it. And that through that pass rush and less predictable defense overall, it will be enough to make up for the deficiencies on the backend until they can sort things out.

But I 'converted' to thinking Chaisson should be the pick several weeks back, and everything I see since then makes me even more convinced that if he's still there at #17, he won't be by pick #18.

The big takeaway is get us the best players and we'll build the scheme around them. No more Trysten Hills and Taco Charltons we will take the best player period not the best player that fits our scheme.

What a novel idea... actually scheming for an opponent?

So perhaps someone like say....Sam Donald doesn't come back from four weeks of inactivity and look like the second coming of Dan Marino?

I think your right. Especially on waves of pass rushers. But the big question....will Chaisson be there at 17? It won't surprise me if a team moves up a few spots to take him at 15 or 16 knowing ATL and the Cowboys are sitting at 16 and 17.

Taco was prolly the best player period at his draft slot.

It won't surprise me either. I've done a bunch of mocks for fun and the Falcons take him one pick before us. Time and time and time again.

I hope the rumors of them trading up for Henderson are true, just to get them out of there.

They're one spot ahead of us with the exact same needs. Sucks.

I am going to humbly disagree. There are a few important things you can take from it.
.

It actually makes a lot of sense out of our video visits.

Lot of valid points, Agreed , the biggest proof is middle of the defense , Rod consistently ignored the DT position, Mccarthy and Nolan has shored up the middle with the DTs from Panthers. Now it wont be porous middle for running and also pocket can collapse so QBs wont be able to step up so easily. This would give a few precious seconds for the DEs to get there, if they can shore up the secondary we may have a decent defense , which can bail the offense in some situations ( with Turnovers, short fields )

Can you believe we chose the wrong player? SMH.

I'm not sure if I shared this story before.

A friend of mine holds these awesome draft [parties. He really rolls out the red carpet and goes nuts with it. It's his big hosting event of the year. He buys a ton of food and makes all kinds of different dishes. He goes so far as to print up a Draft Day Menu. The whole nine yards. He's also big onto craft beers and creates a beer menu as well. And a bunch of us bring over all kinds of different brews to have a tasting events as well. It's a great time.

So anyway, 2017 and I'm having an awesome time, gorging myself on all of the food, sampling the brews, and watching TJ Watt - my pet cat - still on the board. I was all set to cap off a great night, when the name 'Taco Charlton' comes through the speaker. I let out a scream of curses and my night was ruined. An otherwise perfect day just trashed. And I told everyone who asked that the Cowboys had just made a huge mistake.

And every draft since, the subject comes up, and they tell me how right I was about that one.

Sadly, given current conditions and the fact that he and his wife just had twins a few months ago, no draft party this year...
:(

I hold a scotch party that is very similar. But not on draft day. About 50 scotches to choose from. Top end food.

I felt that way with Thornhill on the board.
