Obviously not a Dallas fan but I love JJ. I don’t think there’s another owner I’d rather sit down and a have beer with. Everyone gets jerked that he treats the team like it’s his own fantasy team but that’s his prerogative and most of us would do the same in his position. In reality his drafts have been pretty damn good recently. I think Stephen has been the voice of reason in some of these drafts.

So this make you guys nervous he’s going to go off the rails or will he stay on script and trust their board?

The senile rant about his son's psychotic strength seems just what you'd be looking for when evaluating GM candidates. I expect that Louis Riddick will incorporate some of that verbiage in his next interview for a front office job.

No different than any other draft, Jerry always has the final call.

This got brought up in the draft forum earlier, and I've got to say, I don't believe this to be true as much anymore.

There was a big "story" about how the War Room had to "tackle Jerry" to prevent him from drafting JFF over Martin.

Obviously, it's his football team, but I don't think he's entirely the end-all, be-all when it comes to final selection.

I agree, I wouldnt read too much into this.

He will still be in communication with the rest of the team, and it's not like Stephen has to physically restrain jerry on draft day....at least I hope not.

Shouldnt be any more of an impact for the cowboys that other teams are not feeling as well. Just gets a headline because its jerry

I don’t see it being that much different
Staff will be communicating just not in same room
Now my only real worry is what happens if he runs out of blue before we pick and has to go to liquor store lol

If you own a team, and are as involved as Jerry is you will have the final say. If jerry really wanted Manziel he would have been a cowboy. There is also a lot of chatter that Aaron Donald was going to be the pick if he were there as well. The Johnny football rumor just continues because it's an easy way for people to take shots at Jerry.

lol - this article is idiotic, and the OP shouldn't have fallen for it. Do we really think any restraint Jerry has had in the draft came from other people being in the same room and physically restraining him from making a pick that they thought was wrong, or do we think it came from the group talking it out? We obviously all know the answer to that, so the next question is do we really think he won't be in constant communication with others and talk things through just like they were in the same room? Technology actually does allow for that.

Rumor? Stephen is the one that publicly shared the story. Jerry had gone on record, several times, that he wanted Manziel. It's far from a rumor.

Obviously he makes the call, but not based off of some giddy and childish knee jerk. That, my friend, is some made up fantasy we like to use, just to pick on Jerry.

I'll never speak in absolute terms because I wasn't there, but I just cant buy into it.

It's easy to say after the fact that a team wanted player X,Y and Z. Easy to go to the media and tell a story about a prospect your GM had a personal relationship with.

Talk is cheap and jerry does what jerry wants. He didnt get Manziel and the speak more to me than anything. Especially given how in love jerry was with romo, I just dont buy into those rumors.

At the end of the day though no one will really know for sure. Let's sit back watch the show tonight, and maybe jerry proves me wrong and cant be trusted without adult supervision.
