But for injury concerns, I bet he does. Depends on coaching philosophy and what they think of Looney.

I'd rather get the starting oline together on a permanent basis earlier than later, and keep players at their natural positions. Looney held the oline together, but was only ok, and that was two years ago. There is no upside or future there. Badasz to C, McGovern to LG, Williams to swing G/T, and the starters are fixed for the next 3 years.
There is no one on the team that is going to beat Looney out.

Bet on genes. Should have taken Watt at DE over Taco.

Thadeus Moss didn't compete at the combine for health issues. Exactly the kind of risk Jerry would take. Maybe he figures if he takes Thadeus, that will wipe out the Moss Curse. I'd pay a 6th for that.

Looking at a draft profile, I *love* this guy as a short yardage blocking TE. And that's a need for us. Great blocker, great hands, great boxing out and catching in traffic. And he might end the Moss Curse.

I hope we get him.

Here's all the centers picked so far. Only 3 other college centers off the board before the Cowboys took Biadasz in round 4. Let's not pretend this was a very deep center draft because it wasn't. Nobody graded higher than 6.40. Biadasz was a legitimate 1st round grade if he'd come out last year. Injury issues shoved him back into the pack, so the Cowboys got in in RD 4. I'm perfectly OK with this.

The low picks may be more from few teams feeling a burning need to pick a C than poor quality at C. Cushenberry and Henessy look like drops too, but not as deep.

That's where we disagree. Looney is the fallback option if no one else works out. The league doesn't consider him starting material.
Well as a reminder.....aint no body practicing anytime soon. Looney will be the starter.

Massive value pick for a young guy who should be ready to start at C day one. Don't have to convert McGovern or Williams. Don't have to start Looney.

Now we can take our pick of McGovern or Williams at LG. I'm pulling for McGovern. Let's Williams be our swing T.
I'm good with that.

Don't know. This is my first thread of the day.

I'm just so psyched about getting Badasz. Fantastic value that really straightens out the oline. I value center higher than most, but given our existing options, and needs elsewhere, I doubted we would pick one better than McGovern would be. I think we did. And late in the fourth. This draft is just falling in our laps.

I have been looking since about the 3rd - 4th rounds on. I like him...I swear I'm sold.

He'll get there. Nice youthful pair as interior backups right now, he and McGovern.

Good point about nobody practicing soon.

Still, Looney had one start last year. Badasz played a full season. And they both have to learn a new system. Lots of the advantages a veteran would normally have don't apply here.

Looney is the past. Badasz is the future. We'll see who they pick. We played William as a rookie at an entirely new position where it was clear he lacked the power. Badasz is much more NFL ready at C.

The plan at OC is going to be interesting. Mostly what they do with McGovern. Is he going to be competing with Looney and possibly Biadasz at OC, or with Williams at LG.

Its gonna take alot for Biadasz to win that job out of camp.

With Badasz, Looney, and Redmond as competition at C, I expect they don't bother McGovern with competing at C, and let him focus on LG.

I hope they start Williams working back at LT instead of having him compete much for LG. Tough row to hoe for him, but we're much better off with McGovern playing LG, and Williams being swing T.

Badasz at center, Mcgovern at left guard, Williams to swing tackle. Thats a mauling physical O line. Solves our swing tackle problem as well. Looney backs up at center and guard. Nice!

I think Williams will be the first up backup for G and T. Looney for C. Knight is 2nd backup at T. Williams, Knight, and Looney should be fighting it out to be the biggest TE for jumbo packages.

Though with such a strong receiving corps, I wonder how much sense it's gonna make to ever go jumbo. Just spread the defense out.
