This is going to be talked about as one of the steals of this draft as he develops.
Biadasz has arguably been the best college center over the last two seasons. Yes he was banged up last season, but he still performed well. There is a reason Jonathan taylor was able to rush for back to back 2000 yard rushing campaigns.
What I particularly liked about Biadasz in college were his smarts and how well he blocked on the move. He sprung a lot of big runs over the years by getting to guys at the second level. This was safe pick and will help us build our next great oline.

If he is anything like Fredbeard then we scored with this kid. We needed a center and he fell to us without having to reach to far. Sure we traded up to get in but it was in the 4th! Losing a 5th for an anchor of the offensive line is nothing. Heck most of our guys are 1st rounders.

Dude, I think it's unfair to compare a new guy off of hip surgery to Fredbeard. Maybe down the road, but had Fredbeard's career not been derailed by the illness, he'd definitely be in talks as one of the greatest at the position.

I still keep looking at our final picks and thinking I am having some sort of hallucination. Like quarantine is just playing tricks on my mind or something.

24. Tyler Biadasz, C, Wisconsin*

HT: 6-foot-3 | WT: 321 | Previously: 24

I wrote about Biadasz's rise in November, after he helped blow up the Iowa defense to the tune of 300 rushing yards. He has proved to be the clear top center in this class and a potential top-20 pick in April. The fourth-year junior moves extremely well -- he can pull to get to the edge with ease -- and anchors well in pass protection. I really like watching the Wisconsin offense on tape.

So how can my top-ranked center be considered a first-round sleeper? Because there is usually just one center in Round 1 each year, and he's usually picked in the back half. Teams don't always have a need there.

Biadasz is the real deal, though -- a 6-foot-3, 321-pound fourth-year junior who has started 31 straight games for the Badgers. He's a good athlete who is already advanced technically. He can pull and use his athleticism to get on the edge and plow defenders ahead of running back Jonathan Taylor, who last week made his Big Board debut. Biadasz had hip surgery after last season, but he has shown no ill effects. He's a really solid interior lineman. -- Kiper

I put Biadasz in my list of first-round sleepers last month, but his play since has shown that he's the clear top center in this class and a potential top-20 pick in April, if he enters the draft. The fourth-year junior is an integral part of an excellent Badgers running game, which just put up 300 yards on Iowa. He moves extremely well for his 6-3, 321-pound size -- he can pull to get to the edge with ease -- and he anchors well in pass protection. Biadasz, who has started 36 games, has gotten better each season. -- Kiper

I wonder what changed. What caused him to drop out of Mel's first round prediction?

If nothing else, he gives us a lot of options in the interior of the line with the players we already have.

I saw a lot of poor grades around his pass protection. Looking at some of his tape he’s on the ground a lot too. Seems like he’s not day 1 ready to be a starter.

Normally seeing an OL on the ground is a big no-no in terms of evaluating the player; however, with Biadasz it is almost always late in the play when the QB is already releasing the ball or the RB has passed by his block.

He often maintains contact while he is going to the ground. I've even seen him blocking while on his knees.

He often takes a defender to the ground (i.e. Rides the defender to the ground). He'll have to stop doing that in the NFL. Back in the day that was a pancake block but now it's a penalty.

He does tend to get his weight too far forward. I've noticed that some other Wisconsin OL tend to have an exaggerated forward lean. They almost appear to be coached to do it to some extent.

The number of times that he ends up on the ground is somewhat extreme. He'll have to clean that up in the NFL but I think it's more technique/style than a physical issue.

I think Williams has a chance if they move him back to tackle. But if I had to guess, I think they insist on keeping him at guard, a role he's not built for.

How is he better built for Tackle? Does he not have short arms?

I'm excited to see what new coaching can do for Williams. I think strength and conditioning was more of his issue.

yah, but he is coming out the first year off blowing his knee out. His strength and conditioning are going to be worse now. Usually 2nd year back is when we see them back to normal. And he will be in his 4th year by then.

But he was NOT the top rated center in this draft. You are talking about a rating that was BEFORE his final year happened. He fell to the 3rd or 4th center after his last year of play.

I was specifically looking at centers and Ruiz and Cushenberry were clearly the top 2 guys. Then there was Biadasz and Hennessey up for grabs for 3 and 4. Biadasz was rated anywhere from the 3rd to 5th round pick.

So the big question is...…….………….why did he fall that far. Was it the injury?
I read that he had hip surgery in the offseason before 19 and hadn't fully recovered strength in his base.

Can't be worse than that 1st year though. He looked like he wasn't ready for the NFL at times. At times he looked solid. Very inconsistent.

I agree. I think if he wasn't on the ground as much he probably would've been far higher. But I do think with coaching that can be cleaned up. I love the pick. I think its wishful thinking to think he's going to come right in and start though. But hell I hope he can compete thats even better for us.

First year yes was bad, but he had Frederick to help him out. Now he has Looney or a rookie.

Connor Williams was playing really well last season. The first 3 games were somewhat inconsistent but after that he was good.'

CW was very good at picking up and handing off pass rushers on stunts and blitzes. He was very good getting to the 2nd level to block LBs.

In the 2018 season playoff game against the Rams, Aaron Donald most often lined up against Connor Williams. That ended up being one of Donald's worst games statistically with zero sacks and zero QB Hits.

He often pass blocks with a style similar to an OT riding a pass rusher past the pocket. Fans see that live and it appears that the defender is winning by getting into the backfield but in reality when the defender never gets within 2 yards of the QB it's a win for the OLineman. All OL in the NFL have to at times take a couple of steps back in pass protection. Attempting to stop a pass rusher immediately off the snap is how OL get beat by quickness.

He shouldn't need to start immediately. The Cowboys made it to the playoffs and won a playoff game with Looney starting at OC.ss

McGovern played both OC and OG in college with 14 games at OC and 21 at RG.

I'm pretty excited about this pick. As un-sexy as a 4th round interior o-lineman should be, I'm quietly excited to see how he looks when he reports.

I am curious what round the NFL Draft Advisory Committee estimated he'd be picked in. I wonder if he left school early thinking he'd be, like, a 2nd rounder.
I was excited about Fred myself
