Without knowing the numbers each side is proposing, it's hard to form a definitive opinion, but I can see the Cowboys side here. If Dak is wanting a short deal with a high guaranteed salary, the Cowboys have no reason not to let him play the next two on the tag. If he wants guaranteed money, he's going to have to give somewhere...either by letting the Cowboys have the longer deal or by giving the Cowboys a reason to guarantee three years by making it cheaper than tagging him those years.

This gives me hope that the front office gets it. Dak can’t hamstring this team with his contract or we’re clucked.

Dak has hardball management and its looking more like he may move on in a year or two.

And he will fall immediately into the "also mentioned starting QB's" grouping and watch his name recognition, social media presence, and AP score evaporate like dry ice.

Chunky soup might pick up the phone to Nooch's agent and re-tag the Minestrone soup and call it the "DiNucci Family Recipe" the next day.

Dak and the Cowboys should just be smart.

Give him 4 years at 33M per. with 75M guaranteed and be done with it.

I see alot of folks losing patience for this deal to get done. I still think it will happen. I'm sure the death of his brother has affected him and the Cowboys need to be respectful right now by giving him space to grieve. They have a while before that July 15th deadline gets here so their's no rush. When the time comes for this team to physically come together, I'm sure he'll be there. It's his team now.

"We certainly want Dak to be happy, but we also want to surround him with great football players.""

I wish Dak would understand this one line

They're just waiting to DiNucci his deal. Once Dak sees the Nooch play, he'll be willing to pay Dallas to keep him as starter.

Im all for the player making all the money he can. But at some point you have to understand the talent level around you will more than likely drop off at some point because they won't be able to keep players beyond their rookie contracts. And by then you will just be playing to be playing with no chance.

"Dak's our guy," Jones told ESPN's Scott Van Pelt, via The Athletic's Jon Machota. "No one thinks more of Dak Prescott than Jerry Jones and myself. I know (coach) Mike (McCarthy) when he signed on, part of why he signed on was Dak Prescott. It's just getting it done.
Where did you come up with the notion Dak may move on in a year or two?

I have very little doubt he misses even one OTA...if they happen.

Because they arent, I see no rush. If I'm Jerry, I'd write that signing bonus check later than sooner.

He definitely wont miss a day of camp because neither side wants to miss the July 15 deadline.
true most of these FT holdout type things go into July or whatever the cut off date is for a new LTD to be signed..if it gets passed that then things will get interesting..
