That’s untrue. Everyone on this board was THRILLED with Dak his rookie year. He played simply amazing that year. He has regressed since then, when we all expected that he’d improve. That’s what has soured half the fan base on Dak.
Dak did, despite a 4th round entry, what many 'rook' quarterbacks fail at doing...being successful and a leader from the start. No, he wasn't a finished Staubach, Aikman, or even Danny White...but he survived and was successful at a strong level, even being a 'rook.'

This is just a excuse to validate those that didn't like him before.

We are kidding ourselves here since Dak became quarterback of this team he's been a polarizing figure with fans. Just like Romo before him. You have those that dislike him, those that want something better and those that like him. If you liked him prior to his "greed" you should still like him. Nothing has been signed. People are forming opinions of him based on leaked information from the Cowboys.

Lets be honest here.
Honesty: You're referring to the small number of fans who actually love or hate the guy.

In reality, at this point most fans think Dak's a pretty good QB, not great or awful. And a large number of those fans have issues w/ his actions at present.

Dak has regressed? Lol, check the numbers, remember it's a team sport Einstein.

Dak's agent is setting his teeth into top of NFL as well as Cowboys' setting pay days...but he may be losing a locker room and group of supporting fans in the same stroke.

Brandt’s top three include the Saints’ pairing of Brees and Thomas, the Falcons’ connection of Matt Ryan and Julio Jones, and the Cardinals’ new duo of the exciting Kyler Murray and All-Pro DeAndre Hopkins.

Brandt then has Dallas...

4) Dak Prescott and Amari Cooper, Dallas Cowboys: The selection of Oklahoma receiver CeeDee Lamb with the 17th overall pick could have a positive impact on Cooper. If Lamb is able to develop quickly, Cooper could get more snaps in the slot, where he’ll be able to wreak havoc. Even if Lamb needs a bit of time, Cooper should still make the most of the contract extension to which he’s been signed, assuming he doesn’t have to deal with anything like the leg injuries that bothered him last year. Of course, this also presumes the franchise-tagged Prescott doesn’t hold out or miss time as he waits for a new contract.

Couple this with acquiring Cee Dee Lamb, a very pro Dak move, and Dallas has more than supported Dak in his position. This being the anti-Green Bay by the team during this draft.

Now, mix in what has been done along the depth for the offensive line, and his role has been in the middle of the franchise's bulls eye. They have done their due diligence and then some, including offering and negotiating in good faith, to reward that very player.

If he doesn't quickly gain a team oriented slant, and quit buying into his glory, instead of the team...he will end up losing a ton more, that what is pictured in front of his nose.

Dak, it's time to get your butt off it's high/holy air space, and back to team and Lombardi building!

Another trip to fantasy land. The Cowboys want a longer deal than Dak wants, because he wants to get paid twice.

Dak isn't going anywhere, whether some of us like it or not, and the extension will get done. I'd swear some of you have never negotiated a contract. :muttley:

Look, smart guy, they have been working on this contract for over two years NOW.

They are close, and the agent is fighting for money...the reason for the business, but love of game and team is a functional element for some around sports.

Fantasy, no, this is a sport...and the sport element BETTER sell.

Many fans who liked him have now changed a bit.

Dez lost some support during his big contract negotiation. Too much talking in the media.

Dak has been more professional about it. There's no Rodney Dangerfield bad blood complaining in the media about "muh respect".

The only potential problem I had is Dak (maybe) not showing up for some of these virtual meetings. I see him as not really wanting a contract this year, and content to play on the tag. Fine. But then don't make this show of holding out from (voluntary) workouts to "pressure Jerry". Just show up and get ready for the season, have a great year, and then squeeze Jerry, or the league, next year with your fantastic production in 2020. Not showing up now just makes his tape worse for negotiations next year.

I mean that's your opinion and that's fine but I've seen people have issues with him prior to his contract year. Especially in 2017.

Pretty much. This contract dispute isn't changing anyones eyes. If you liked him before you'd like him now. If you hated him making 500k a year you are going to hate him regardless.

Understood but I don't think your prayers are gonna make this easier for him to cope with. Tragedy or not.....this wasn't getting resolved anytime soon.

I liked him before, but am sick of this contract talk. My attitude towards Dak has become much less supportive.

If he signs on time and plays well I will happily cheer for him. If he holds out and it hurts the team Im probably not going to be his biggest fan.

I mean you must have a issue with the whole team then because Zeke and Lawrence also held out. Dak isn't even holding out. He just hasn't signed his franchise tag.

Seriously, when the whole country is suffering, his agent is most concerned about the 'most' money few share to start with...

I think it bothers me as well because of his statements about Russ Wilsons contract and the teams statements about what has been offered.

40-24 with very good stats despite mediocre coaching, mediocre defense and mediocre special teams.

DURRRRRRR DA QB IS DA PRAWBLUM!!1!1!!1!!!!
:) And there appears to be a ton of possibility and coaching to go around. There presently enough 'turk' and injury to derail this group at present...

Dak can lead this bunch, and even improve from last season. Stumbling blocks need to be removed.

Yeah I was pissed at Zeke and Dlaw. I felt like Zeke had caused enough trouble and contributed towards a poor 2017 season. Dlaw, I was unhappy about him not being in form for the start of 2019 season.

I still like both players, but I lack faith in Zeke long term. Dlaw I think will be fine.

I admit my opinions arent always fair to the players, but I want to see this team win.

Edit: I thought Zeke got screwed by RG, but did a horid job doing himself any favors that offseason.

Dude, wins aren't a qb stat, until they are.

At any rate I find all this hand wringing over Dak's contract inane: Dak wants to be a Cowboy, the Jones' want him to be a Cowboy. It's going to happen, then everyone can go back to "[insert player's name] sucks and should be cut/traded for 1st rounders" threads.

How much do you think Dak is losing in endorsements, I bet a ton
Didnt he just have a commercial played on every draft break? I think you wish he was losing but the guy keeps winning and laughing at comments and people like you.
