What a class act and total gentleman Danny White has always been. One of my favorite All-Time Greats.

That would actually be Slinging Sammy Baugh.

Primarily known for his passing prowess, Baugh led the league in completion percentage a record eight times, passing yards four times, and an NFL record six times in passer rating,[2] among other statistics.[1] However, he was also known for his versatility—having the ability to play at a high level as a punter as well as a defensive back. Throughout his career, he led the league in yards per punt five times, as well as yardage in 1943, a year in which he also led the league in defensive interceptions, with 11.[1] His yards per punt of 51.4 during the 1940 season still stands as an NFL record as of 2018.[3]

Also a hell of a DB.

I didn't think the comment about best QB1 punter combo ever was limited to the Cowboys, but if it that's what you meant, it made no sense and wasn't a compliment to Danny at all because there isn't another Cowboy to compare him against as a QB1/punter.

I met Danny back in around 2002 I think it was, at sky harbor airport in Phoenix. The guy was the same guy that you see in this short video clip. A TRUE HONEST GENTLEMAN and maybe the top 2 best QB's Dallas ever had to never win a Ring as a starter. His issue was he never had enough defensive help in the 80's. He was never the problem in taking that next step. LOVE ROMO, but Danny was better. His arm and accuracy in the clutch was very good. ROGER,Troy, Danny...in that order. Don and Craig were awesome, but not in the same category with my top 3. Romo would be 4th ranked on my list. Go back and watch some of those games Danny started from about 1980 to 1984. He had times when he was special. In those 4 years he and Tony D and Drew P were the triplets. Before that it was Roger Drew and Tony. We all know about the 90's triplets. What a great guy Danny White was,...and remains so. Tom Landry rubbed off on him no doubt. Taught him a lot about fb and life.

GOOD POINT. People forget he was our punter too. A pretty good one at that.

He came one fingernail tackle from erasing the catch and winning one that year.
