I don't know about replacing Jaylon Smith in the starting lineup, but he is my favorite of the UDFA to make the roster as a special teams demon and a quality backup.

I think he might be able to be a Joe Thomas type guy, but I don't see the athleticism there to start

I believe this guy can replace Jaylon Smith by end of the season. Unlike Jaylon he is a true ILB that can stop the run and cover in space.

This could have been a good thread if you could resist the hyperbole.

The chance of Jaylon being replaced is extremely low and the probability of Jaylon being replaced in 2020 by a rookie UDFA is basically zero.

I've watched everything I could find on Bernard.

He is not a wow athlete but he was a very good football player in college.

He has a good understanding of coverage and he often plays takes on and sheds blocks from OL in the run game.

Brugler had him ranked #14 on his off-ball LB list and projected him as a 4th to 5th round pick.

Bernard in some ways reminds me of Anthony Hitchens. Both are only about 6' tall and neither have wow type athleticism, but both are very effective football players.

For those that don't remember, Hitchens was a Cowboys 4th round pick in 2014 and developed into a very solid LB.
- He signed a 5 year, 45M contract with the Chiefs in 2018 and was a starting LB on the 2019 Super Bowl champion KC Chiefs.

The writing is already on the wall, why are they switching his position on defense.

If your franchise QB can get replaced with a blink of an eye so can any overpaid Defensive or Offensive player.

Grow up. Dak did not get replaced.

OLB is a premium position in new D-Coordinator Mike Nolan's defense.

Nolan likes big OLBs that can play right up on the line but that can also handle all normal off-ball LB duties.

one was rated as a top 5 LB before his injury and since recovered and showed he can play at high level in the NFL. the other is an UDFA who just signed...

Jaylon in not an OLB and he can’t handle LB duties ,that’s why they are moving him. He is a one trick pony that can slightly rush the passer.

By the way Bradlee Anae is the OLB Nolan is looking for. He is gonna be in nomination for DROY.

He has instincts but looks slow, the league is moving towards faster LBs who can cover ground and i can see why he was not drafted.

So much that they are moving him to a different position. Dude is a bust.

we have LVE and Smith both MLB. LVE can't play outside. Smith is a better rusher, so moving him to the outside, where Lee used to play provides opportunities for pass rush.. dude, get a hold of yourself. Bernard is nothing but a bottom of the LB roster LB and special teams player for at least two years before he really gets an opportunity to sniff the field.

sorry, but you are abust

Right and in your other thread we should sign J.J Nelson to take the top off of defenses and trade Michael Gallup because our WR's are not fast enough.
