Any sensible human would agree with this sentiment. On one hand, you've got a guy who is not all that great, but wants to be paid like he is great. On the other, you have an option that is Dak's equal and will do it for half the price, go with the less expensive option and continue to build the team.

Sound the alarms....this has gotten out of control! Skip, in anything he says, is over-the-top, outlandish, off base. Way to go Water Pistol Skip.

Skip is wrong. Signing Dalton was about QB depth, not leverage against Dak. Dak is still the man despite all the haters wishing otherwise.

Hahaha these echo chambers from the anti-Dak crowd are so adorable.

Dak’s already been franchised at over $31 mil.

Dak already has a big money offer on the table.

Dak’s going to win here. He’ll be the starter and he’ll be paid a ton of money to do so. Because he’s a good, young QB who’s durable and still getting better. Andy Dalton is a nice backup option. But that’s all he’ll be: Dak’s backup.

I’m so sorry to disappoint you beta male Dak haters. You’re going to lose.

Because winners win and losers lose.

The team is frustrated with Dak and his management. That really goes without saying. We’ll find out soon how wide that rift has become. I’m not positive Dak will be here next season. He isn’t necessarily acting like he wants to be.

i can believe this, his manager has consistently played hardball from the very beginning.

Stop with the propaganda it’s ridiculous

Tell me why it’s ridiculous.

Don’t just give me a 1 liner like that.. Say something.

I’ve given reasons why.

Stephen just last week said they had a number that they aren’t moving from and they turned around and signed Dalton this week.

The signing of Dalton was a move for leverage in negotiations.

This whole situation begs the asking of a serious question. What is better for the team in the long run? Andy Dalton for now and beginning the search for the next franchise QB + whatever you can do with $35 million in extra cap space or Dak Prescott? I’m torn at the moment but you post one practice video of Dalton slinging it to our WRs and hitting them in stride and I can see myself jumping to that side and never looking back. The Dallas Cowboys didn’t start with Dak Prescott and they won’t end without him. I think I would begin playing serious hardball with Prescott now and force him to have the conversation with his agent about what will happen if a deal in Dallas doesn’t get done. I’m not sure they have gone there yet but I would make sure they have to now.

Nah im good

At least Romo came when we had absolutely NOTHING at the position beforehand.

We have gotten worse at the position now. #downgradeDak
Oh yeah, Romo had nothing...except for an inheritance of a team full of a franchise record 13 Pro Bowlers in 2007, his first full season as a starter.

Nice story-telling. I'm ready to take a nap.

“Get a QB next year”

Hahahahahahaahhahahahaah

It’s that easy! The good ones practically grow on trees!
:lmao2::lmao2::lmao2:

people think its easy to find QBs but its not, just look at the QBs drafted in RD 1 this year.both Love and Herbert have high bust potential,no way am i willing to use a high draft pick on such uncertainty when we have a proven and durable QB who is getting better every year.

I don't know if they signed him for leverage or not. I do think that this offensive team is a group that an average QB can thrive with. Dalton's history in postseason is pretty poor to say the least so I am not saying he is the answer. I have not watched him enough to even be positive or negative on the situation myself.

So I will sum up my feelings in these points:

1) Dalton is not an upgrade over Dak
2) Dalton and 25-30 million may be an upgrade over Dak
3) Going with Dalton really probably gets you nowhere unless MM can scheme him there.
4) It is not a long term solution.
5) I don't think Dak for 35 million can take us there either- if he gets paid, I hope he proves me wrong.

Batten the hatches. Shields up. Arm photon torpedoes. Cowboys are dug in and prepared for battle.

We just signed a QB that can get Dak like results in early May for 3 million dollars.

QBs are easier then ever to find.

sorry but you have fallen off the reservation with this take,Dalton was terrible this year and benched and injured .The Andy Dalton of old is not the one we are getting .
