If only we as fans would follow his lead. We childishly insult our own players...players who are GOOD for this team. Just throw around bias and agenda...while being self-proclaimed football experts.

So are you mad at MM for not bringing back Heath, Collins, cutting Rush, ect….ect….

No different than what fans do. Some players suck and need to be replaced. Some are idiots that are overpaid. Some play positions that don't require huge salaries, and some are great for the team.

Does it hurt your feewings to talk about that kind of stuff?

Personally, true Cowboy fans talking about not liking Dak as a QB is just laughable.

Now can I understand some of them complaining about giving Dak a huge contract? Sure, now that is understandable

But regardless, you dont cut a QB like Dak or NOT pay him until you have a BETTER option. That would just be plain dumb. Unless you want to tank the season. Not the right move with THIS team.

Now should they have looked into trading Dak and getting a windfall? I would do that nearly every year with most of my players.

I remember that. I honestly don’t care who is on this roster and how much they get paid. All I want is for this franchise to compete and win Superbowls.

I would always look to upgrade all positions all the time. When there is a QB on the roster that is better than Dak, great, lets move on.

What it actually is is a honeymoon period where fans are willing to give a new HC every benefit of every doubt until the games actually count. It’s the opposite experience we had where the old staff got absolutely no benefit of the doubt at all. This honeymoon will last until about our third regular season loss. And while I’m glad y’all are happy for a bit and enjoying the team again, its hilarious how transparent it all is.

We had a fantastic draft, which is great because we needed one after a bad draft last season. Other than that it’s pretty much been business as usual around here, except for the Dalton signing. And the Dalton signing was a one year insurance policy because it’s a contract year for Dak.

h, and 6th rounder Tom Brady was Drew Bledsoe's back up. But he was a 6th and not a 7th.

Not his rookie year. He was 4th on the depth chart behind John Friesz & Michael Bishop, (yes, they had 4 Qbs on the 53)

The signing of Andy Dalton says Mike McCarthy takes his QB room very seriously. It's about time. This is how it was done during the better Romo years. A proven veteran backup that can win us games if the worst happens to our starter.

Actually I think DiNucci will be the third QB- Dak will be the starter, Dalton his backup. Which is why Rush is gone.

McCarthy is experienced to realize how important the backup QB is. Rolling with Cooper Rush as your primary backup with a non-rebuilding roster is borderline insanity. I am sure he expressed that to Stephen and Jerry. Garrett didn't know what he was doing to even say anything.

If McCarthy was behind signing Dalton then it’s his best move as HC since taking over.

I sure hope so. This has been one of the biggest excuse machines in sports. Jerry made more excuses for mediocrity than anyone I’ve ever seen in a business where winning a championship is the gold standard.

I used the No More Excuses mantra as last year's gimmick Cowboy cliche Garrett had become so famous for on his t-shirts and whatever else.

I over estimated the roster last year but guess I could be talked into one more round of No More Excuses madness if it helps the team achieve a trophy.

To a man though, No More Excuses does accurately sum up my feelings towards this team in general.

I agree Bullet, but anything sounds refreshing after a decade of Garrett
It certainly feels different. To me, Garrett almost always appeared to be supporting what Jerry wanted. And Garrett actually did do some good things, like make the roster more focused on younger players with upside. The results however, were mediocre and his schtick had long ago run out of air.

But the MM era so far feels more like Jerry is supporting what Big Mike wants....not the other way round. And that’s refreshing. I’m not ready to crown MM as a hero yet. We haven’t done anything on the field yet. But definitely like the start.

I remain extremely skeptical as to if MM is really in charge of things like disciplining players and if his authority will be recognized that way.

I feel like this is the single most important part of his chance at success here.

I don't at all trust Jerry to hold up his end of the deal...if there was one at all.

Jerry is never gonna get past that more of him isnt a good thing.

I totally get that, and I share your concern. I guess I am just projecting my hope. Because if Jerry is just “business as usual”, we’re going to keep getting the same results.

Nope...not mad at all...at any of those guys. I do find your Dak hypocrisy startling. We can criticize/hate/support/whatever players as long as it conforms to your person criteria. Got it!

If you guys don’t see this as more than a depth signing, you are missing the boat. The team will “pay” for Dalton’s contract with the savings off of Dak’s deal.

If you guys don’t think this is leverage, then you are not paying attention. Great move by the Cowboys. Look for 3 QBs on this roster this year.
