Dak will play for less somewhere else but not in Dallas

I think you’re being incredibly naive.

Dalton is insurance for on the field and off the field reasons.

Gee since common sense is missing then it has to be that you've had private discussions with Jerry and he told you that there is a plan to make Dalton the starter or at least make Prescott think that so he'll sign. Prescott won't look at that 3 mil 1 year contract. All he'll see is we signed a QB so he better look out. Does that cover your conversation with Jerry?

It isn't. It's NOTHING more than a 1 year insurance policy against a injury to Prescott. If it was like some here think that it was a negotiation ploy, the Cowboys would have signed him for a heck of a lot more money to make it believable than the little 3 mil for this season. Common sense does escape some.
.

So you;d pay more than you have to, for a ruse you say was never really on the table, and then crow about common sense. Mkay.

I never said he is making Dalton the starter.

He just took away Prescott’s hold out leverage if for some reasons Prescott and his agent decided to go nuclear.

One of our quarterbacks is on the zoom meetings every day with McCarthy and Moore learning the new offensive wrinkles.

And the other one is Dak Prescott.

Mike McCarthy has no allegiance or history with Dak.

Cooper Rush needed no message...not NOW. He got the message when the games were out of hand or Dak was hurt.

Oh boy a big announcement that most said would happen when Dalton was signed. Rush's release has less than zero to do with any big reason for signing Dalton other than a 1 year insurance policy. Rush got into games late and has a grand total 3 regular season pass attempts, 1 catch for a whooping 2 yards and you think there's some surprise there?

Dak will never take a lowball offer from America’s team that comes with media headache, especially with big guns like ESPN coming after you 24/7.

Dak also wants to prove a point that his mental fortitude is better than Jerry and he will always one up him. Dak will make Jerry pay regardless either in the pocket books or DYIING WITHOUT WINNING ANOTHER SUPER BOWL.

Nick Wright thinks he knows something about football when nothing could be further from the truth. Cris Carter was constantly correcting Nick when they talked football. That show sorely misses Carter's knowledge of football.

Prescott and his agent see the same thing we see and that's a 1 year 3 mil backup QB contract that as zero affect on what they decide to do.

Clearly, at the present time, dak's agent is calling the shots for dak. Dak is wisely refraining from saying much of anything regarding the negotiations. As it should be. I don't see it as a personal issue. That's just grasping at straws.

you think they make this move with garrett?
i dont.
if signing Dalton was a message to ANYONE...it was Cooper Rush....who is no longer here.
Dalton is a QB2 up-grade...long needed.
and give us a puncher's chance if Dak gets hurt.

I always make sure to open threads started by this poster...

It’s kind of like slowing down to see how bad the car accident in the other lane was.

You know it might be really bad, but you just got to look

I wonder how much of the Dak distaste on this forum is a direct result of threads like this.

Its extraordinarily clear that there are Dak fans who support Dak a lot more than the Cowboys. That has really polarized the fanbase and got a lot of the actual Cowboys fans kind of irritated.

If he really, seriously feels that way...buh-bye! And good riddance!

I dunno...hard to say. We did some surprise signings last year. I suppose it irks me when people state an opinion under the guise of emphatic fact. Then they call them "hater" because they don't agree. "They must be hatefully insane to NOT AGREE with me!".

Again...I see no reason for any "message" when you were gonna get released anyway. If your theory is true, they'd "send a message" that if ya don;t pick it up you'll be gone. When you are GONE...what use is any "message"? The pink slip was the message not the signing.

Really hard to say if there is any message at all. I think it's realistic to presume if Dak doesn't sign...Dalton is the "insurance"...not JUST for injury. And...players DO have a resurgence with another team...a fresh start. And this isn't any old team...it's a juggernaut. It's possible the different skill set Dalton does different things with this team. We'll have to plug the center of course. It's my OPINION that if you sign a player even for a penny, he gets his chance to compete....even if it's just showing off in preseason. If *I'M* the coach....I run plays and evaluate players. All summer and preseason. And I start the best player. I have NEVER said Dalton is better so don;t start that.

I want every player to succeed but I want the Cowboys to succeed FIRST and foremost and players will either be there doing it or not. They earn it. Maybe some "competition" (as in just working side by side another NFL starter) will be good for Dak and elevate him even more.

I think Dak is much smarter than that. There is no football activity right now, why does Dak need to get a deal done? Once it is determined that players and coaches can get together and hold organized, team activities, the Dak Drama will quickly end. The dude is going to make north of $30MM/ year with over $100MM up front for 4 years of work. Not a bad gig. Don't believe for one minute Dak doesn't see the opportunity cost of not signing with the Cowboys. Probably another $30MM - $50MM over those same 4 years. Oh, and the investment in talent both in the huddle and on the sideline. Bet he speaks with McCarthy frequently and can't wait to get back into the sports end of football.
